THE DANCE AND THE RAILROAD==>A

Wednesday==>Unbelievable! Although it was in the 20s at 8:30am this morning, it is forecast that the weather here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, will actually be above the freezing mark for the first time in days. Hooray!! Break out the Tees, shorts and flip-flops.

So ... let’s get this posting started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...

THE DANCE AND THE RAILROAD by David Henry Hwang, in California in 1867 two Chinese workers struggle through poverty and hunger to reconnect with the traditions of their homeland==>A

A totally engrossing story line with excellent acting from the two-man cast, Ruy Iskandar and Yuekun Wu.

The running time is only 70 minutes and that flew by because my attention was totally focused on the interaction between the two characters - their diversity and their athleticism. Yes, sometimes the rather obscure ancient Chinese cultural references are difficult to follow, but that isn’t a major problem.

This was the first preview performance. It officially opens on February 25th and will play a limited engagement through March 17th at the new Signature Theatre on West 42nd Street. If it is extended (and I feel rather certain it will be) the ticket price will increase from $25 to $75 ... so ...

Billi Pod says==>better see it now.

Moving on ...

Billi Pod has an entertainment doubleheader scheduled for today ... beginning with ...

2:30==>FOREVER DUSTY - “The dramatic story of how a shy Irish Catholic school girl, Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, from West London transformed herself into a worldwide superstar - Dusty Springfield.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

The critics have given this show mixed reviews but all of my theater-buddies who have seen have uniformly liked it. We will see. It is playing at New World Stages on West 50th Street.

Then for this evening is ...

7:00==>ISAAC’S EYE - “This new play re-imagines the contentious, plague-ravaged world Isaac Newton inhabited as it explores the dreams and longings that drove this rural farm boy to become one of the greatest thinkers in modern science.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

According to the press blurb ... the title is derived from ... “In order to understand light and optics better, Newton inserted a long needle ... ‘between my eye and the bone, as near to the backside of my eye as I could.’”

Yeah, that really gets the old mind turning, doesn’t it. Hope I don’t puke if and when this actually happens in the show.

Moving on ... actually ... it may be properly referred to as ... moving back ... because ...

Yesterday’s reference in Billi Pod Blogs obviously put a curse on the Gator basketball team because last night our #2 ranked team lost 80-69 to unranked Arkansas. Barf!!

OK, BillyD, me and Billi Pod promise we won’t make any more references about the Gators in this blog until after the NCAA tournament.

And ... on this happy note will post this and then find my shorts, flip-flops and stuff for the nice balmy walk to my theater ... yes ...

Oh, in tomorrow's blog I will share with you loyal and faithful readers and followers some major info about Billi Pod and the upcoming Yankee season ... so ... stay tuned ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.40 miles (or, 3,871 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,114.80 miles

GO GATORS AND GO YANKEES!!
