Billi Pod Blogs Is On Hiatus

Friday==>I must report to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers that BILLI POD BLOGS will be on hiatus from today until at least August 15th due to some serious issues regarding prostate cancer.

Please DO NOT text, post, email or call for more information because I do not want to discuss the details any further at this time.

Trust me, you will be brought up-to-date at a later time.

I may, however, attempt to briefly post daily on my Facebook Timeline ...

Update On The Bill’s Moving Status - Some Baseball - Today

Wednesday==>I am happy to report to my loyal and faithful readers and followers that the moving process for my son Bill III aka The Bill has moved along basically as anticipated/planned.

Yesterday afternoon I Ubered over to his house on Watermill Avenue in Orlando and joined 4 of his friends in helping to move stuff out of the house and into the rented U-Haul truck. It took around 3 hours.

Those of you who know The Bill understand that he had a lot of “stuff,” including a mind-blowing array of T-shirts, but I am happy to report that everything fit into the truck although it was a very tight fit by the end.

When it was finished Bill drove me back to Winter Park. On the way back to my apartment we stopped off at the Shake Shack in my Winter Park ‘hood and had great burgers and fries.

I have to admit that when I got back to the apartment I was tired and, even though I had promised myself a day-off, by midnight I had recorded 4.21 miles. Oh well ...

Spent the remainder of the evening in front of my 42” flat screen TV watching baseball, including ... tada ...

Yankees/Rangers from Arlington, TX, incredibly won by the Bronx Bombers 21-5 as we overcame a 5 run deficit at the end of the first inning. We scored 11 runs in the top of the 2nd and our relievers Diego Moreno and Adam Warren combined to no-hit Texas for 8 1/3 innings. AWESOME!

Tonight at 8:05pm it will be the 3rd game of the 4-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (57-42) will be Masahiro Tanaka (7-3) vs. Colby Lewis (10-4) for the Rangers (47-52).

I plan to stay in and watch the game.

Moving on ...

This morning Bill and I had the official closing on the sale of his Orlando house. I was involved because he and I owned the property jointly (including the mortgage).

When that process was over we split and Bill went back to his house to finish up, including cleaning. He has to be out of the house by 4:00pm today.

He will spend the night in a motel close to his new house in Castleberry because he can’t close on that property until sometime tomorrow. Yeah, totally draconian because he is actually homeless right now.

When the paperwork is done tomorrow and everything is signed, he will be given the keys to the new house and then the moving “crew” will arrive again and the move-in process will begin.

I will join them later in the day because I have a 3:00pm appointment with my new urologist to get the results of the various tests and stuff that were done 2 weeks ago.

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... you are now up-to-date from Winter Park, in the Sunshine State.

Oh ... I totally agree with the results of Tom Brady’s appeal of his suspension in Deflategate

He was just plain stupid to destroy his cell phone, among other things.

GO YANKEES!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.21 miles (or, 9,219 steps)

Total mileage for 2015==>865.22 miles (average 4.14 miles per day)

Partial Day Off - The Bill - The Yankees

Tuesday==>When I woke up this morning my body gave me an unmistakable message that it wanted at least a partial day-off.

I say partial because my body knew that I am committed to Ubering over to The Bill’s house in Orlando late this afternoon to join the moving and packing crew he has assembled ... so ...

I have skipped the usual morning walk and wander session, to give body his requested partial day off.

Now we can move on with some baseball ... for you Marty ...

Last night in Arlington, Texas, A-Rod hit a solo HR on his 40th birthday to join Gary Sheffield, Ty Cobb and Rusty Staub as the only players to homer as teenagers and at 40 or older.

The Yankees won 6-2, aided by a 2 run HR from Didi Gregorius and 4 shutout innings from our stellar bullpen.

Tonight at 8:05pm the Yankees will play the second game of the 4-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (56-42) will be Chris Capuano (0-4) vs. Martin Perez (0-1) for the Rangers (47-51).

We now lead the AL East by 7 games over the second place Blue Jays and 13 games over the woeful Boston FuckSox, who are mired in last place.

There are a lot of rumors swirling around MLB as the July 31st trade deadline approaches.

Will the Bronx Bombers make a major acquisition? My gut tells me that they will not..

You know, I haven’t anything more to report to you loyal and faithful readers and followers other than I am excited about Bill’s new digs.

It has been a really draconian process in coordinating the sale of his current home and the purchase of his new place ... so ... please keep your fingers crossed for him/us as we begin the closing(s) and then move-out/move-in process.

GO YANKEES!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.39 miles (or, 11,797 steps)

Total mileage for 2015==>861.01 miles (average 4.14 miles per day)

Dinner With The Bill - Krispy Kreme - Yankees - Errands & Chores

Monday==>Good afternoon my loyal and faithful readers and followers.

We need to get today’s posting started because your favorite Sunshine State blogger has a rather long list of errands and chores to attack so ... let’s begin with the highlight of yesterday ... which was ... drum roll ...

Having an AWESOME dinner last night with my son Bill III aka The Bill at one of our favorite restaurants, the Outback Steakhouse on Aloma Avenue in Winter Park.

We both had the Outback special sirloin steak and it was terrific, along with sides. I had a baked potato and mac & cheese while Bill had a baked potato and french fries.

We stuffed ourselves while doing some much needed catching up, including details on his upcoming move. More info on this will be in a later posting.

Then, on the way back to my apartment we stopped off at a Krispy Kreme where we each picked up a 1/2 dozen chocolate glazed donuts.
Folks, your favorite blogger MUST caution you that this is the very personification of E V I L ... because ... once you put one of these in your microwave oven and zap it for 12 seconds and then taste it ... you will become, forever, an addict ... trust me on this you will.

I guess the saving grace is ... there’s a lot of worse stuff to become addicted to.

Anyway ... moving on ...

Sunday was also an excellent walking day for Billi Pod. Yeah, with his early morning walk and wander session, his walking regimen during the baseball games he watched and a brief walk and wander session in the late evening he recorded==>6.01 miles. Not bad!

This mileage brought the weekly mileage up to==>35.78 miles, for a daily average of 5.11 miles per day. Not bad!!

Now on to the baseball scene ... for you Marty ...

Yesterday the Yankees won the rubber game against the Twins, 7-2, behind a stellar outing from Nathan Eovaldi and the long ball from Chase Headley and Stephen Drew

With the win the Yankees are 11-3 in our last 14 games and increased our lead in the AL East to 6.5 games over the second place Blue Jays.

Tonight at 8:05pm the Bronx Bombers begin a 4-game series against the Texas Rangers, in Arlington, TX.

On the mound for the Yankees (55-42) will be Ivan Nova (2-3) vs. Matt Harrison (1-1) for the Rangers (47-50).

Incidentally, the Rangers are only 16-26 at home, the worst percentage in MLB.

Billi Pod plans to remain in the cool and comfortable confines of his new apartment to watch the game on his 42” flat screen TV, in hi-def.

So ... it is time to post this and then begin the errands and chores list.

Oh ... I know ... I know ... all most of you loyal and faithful readers and followers can think about right now is: "WHERE IS THE NEAREST KRISPY KREME?"

 You are so very welcome!

GO YANKEES!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.01 miles (or, 13,125 steps)

Total mileage for the week==>35.78 miles (average 5.11 miles per day)

Saturday Was Kinda Weird - Dinner With The Bill

Sunday==>I hope all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace are having a great weekend and enjoying themselves in the hinterlands, wastelands and boondocks.

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting your favorite Sunshine State blogger has to report that yesterday was a kinda weird day for him here in Winter Park ... and this is what I mean ...

As I reported in yesterday’s posting, my entertainment schedule was to see the just released movie PAPER TOWNS, playing at the Regal multiplex in Winter Park Village, which is, as you know, just across the street from my apartment building.

I had decided on a late afternoon time, but when it was time to head out, it was ... tada ... pouring rain. There was another time about 90 minutes later, so I opted not to brave the elements.

When that time came the rain had stopped so I sauntered over to the theatre to get my senior-discount ticket. The line was kinda long but no matter ... but ... when it was my turn the box office person told me that the show for my time was sold-out. WTF??

He said that the show’s popularity was much more than management had anticipated.

Long story short ... there was nothing in the time-slot that I wanted to see ... so ... I came back to the cool and comfortable confines on my apartment and settled in to watch some baseball ... and ... man ... what an exciting time that turned out to be.

First, I got to watch the final innings of the no-hitter pitched by Philadelphia lefty Cole Hamels against the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field. It was really exciting and the final out was almost misplayed by center-fielder Odubel Herrera. WOW!!

There is intense speculation that Hamels will be traded before the July 31st deadline and that the Yankees are in the mix to acquire him.

Then, it was time for the Yankees/Twins game, with CC Sabathia on the mound for the Yankees

Well, CC basically sucked and the Twins took an early 5-0 lead and, frankly, I thought ... wow ... first I miss my movie and now I have to put up with this crap?

But, later the combination of A-Rod hitting 3 HRs and backup catcher John Ryan Murphy crushing a go-ahead 3-run homer in the top of the 9th took the Bronx Bombers to an 8-5 come-from-behind victory, before a stunned sellout crowd in Minneapolis.

Yeah, it was a good completion to a kinda weird day.

So ... let’s move on to today ...

First of all ... this morning I had an excellent early morning walk and wander session. At 7:30am it was 78º with cloud cover so I was able to record==>3.40 miles.

For the afternoon it will be ... drum roll ...

2:10==>Yankees/Twins in the rubber game of the 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (54-42) will be Nathan Eovaldi (9-2) vs. Kyle Gibson (8-7) for the Twins (52-45).

Then for the evening I will have dinner with my son Bill III aka The Bill, probably at our favorite Outback Steakhouse.

Speaking of The Bill==>I am happy to report that everything has come together for him in the sale of his current house and the purchase of his new digs, next to a golf course. He will be moving this coming Wednesday. I am really excited for him and I will do what I can to help in the moving process. He has put together a team of his friends to do the heavy stuff, and that is good.

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers, you are now up-to-date ...

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

GO YANKEES!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.64 miles (or, 10,157 steps)

Total mileage for 2015==>849.61 miles (average 4.12 miles per day)

Weather Report - Trainwreck - Regal Theatre - Paper Towns - Baseball

Saturday==>The day here in Winter Park, in the Sunshine State, began with cloudy skies and as the day has progressed it has gotten worse. At 3:00pm it is now lightly raining and the forecast is for it to continue for the remainder of the afternoon and into the early evening.

The temperature is 89º, which is manageable, but ... and a huge but ... the “feels like” index is 100º and, folks, that ain’t pleasant.

Oh well ... luckily my entertainment plans for today will require only a minimal exposure to the elements (details below).

This morning I was able to do my usual early morning walk and wander session, recording==>3.07 miles.

So ... let’s move on with your favorite Sunshine State blogger’s report card on yesterday’s entertainment event ... the movie ...

TRAINWRECK - “Ever since her father drilled into her head that monogamy isn't realistic, magazine writer Amy (Amy Schumer) has made promiscuity her credo. As much as she enjoys an uninhibited life free of commitment, Amy is really in a rut. While writing a profile about charming and successful sports doctor Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), she finds herself actually falling in love for the first time -- and what's more, Aaron seems to like her too. Amy starts to wonder if it's time to clean up her act.”

Billi Pod’s report card==>B+

This movie is in-your-face profane with, I think, every known cuss-word in the English language used at least once and, honestly, some of the scenes are kinda cringe-inducing even to someone as open-minded as your favorite blogger.

However, having said that, it is overall, just the kinda humor that Billi Pod loves.

The show is a rom-com from the perspective of a horny female with a tendency to tell-it-like-it-is, regardless of who it may hurt and/or offend.

The acting is excellent, especially the two leads, Amy Schumer and Bill Hader. Colin Quinn also does an excellent job as Amy’s lecherous alcoholic father.

I was surprised at how well professional athletes LeBron James and Amar’e Stoudemire performed.

Bottom line==>if you are in the mood for excellent acting that is laced with profanity, then this is the show for you. If not ... then stay far far away.

This was my first visit to the Regal multiplex located in Winter Park Village, just across the street from my apartment. I was very impressed.

Yeah, I kept planning to go to a show there and then would change my mind at the last minute etc.

The venue is huge, with 18 theaters, including 3D and IMax, all on one level. It is currently showing 14 movies. The facility is clean and the staff is very friendly.

Because of the layout it appears to me that it would be easy to see multiple shows on one ticket if you wanted to.

The concession stand at the entrance is mammoth. Now, that isn’t a big deal for me because I very rarely eat or drink anything at a movie.

They offer a reduced fare for senior citizens==>$9.47, which includes taxes. I don’t know what the full-fare is.

Yeah ... the whole experience got Billi Pod back into a motion picture mode.

When the show was over I came back to my apartment and settled in to watch some baseball ...

Unfortunately, the Yankees basically sucked as we got our butts kicked up in Minneapolis, losing 10-1 to the Twins as former Yankee Phil Hughes pitched innings of shutout ball. Our starter, Michael Pineda, gave up 5 runs in 5 2/3 innings. Barf!

Tonight at 7:10pm is the second game of the 3-game series.

On the mound for the first place Yankees (53-42) will be CC Sabathia (4-8) who had a decent last outing vs. Tommy Malone (5-2) for the Twins (52-44).

Moving on ...

My plans for the rest of the day are to return to the Regal Theatre to see the just opened ...

PAPER TOWNS - “Young and shy Quentin is in for the night of his life when Margo, the most popular student in high school, recruits him to help her play mischievous pranks on the friends who betrayed her. The next day, however, the mysterious Margo is nowhere to be found. With help from a few buddies and some cryptic clues that she left behind, Quentin embarks on an obsessive mission/road-trip to find the girl who stole his heart and made him feel truly alive.”

This show opened to generally very favorable reviews.

When the show is over I will come back to the cool and comfortable confines of my new apartment and settle in to watch baseball for the remainder of the evening.

So ... that brings you loyal and faithful readers and followers up-to-date ... so ...

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

GO YANKEES!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.78 miles (or, 10,465 steps)

Total mileage for 2015==>844.97 miles (average 4.12 miles per day)
