Have A GREAT Holiday Weekend Everyone!!

TGIF for all of my Worker Bee friends and to all of my other loyal and faithful readers and followers.

Yes, I know the holiday weekend is about to begin, so before it does I think that you should think about the following ...

Yes, I think that it probably is ...

Anyway, moving on to last night’s entertainment event ...

THE FIFTH DENTIST, a true story by America's funniest dentist, Mike King==>B.

I found most parts of the hour-long monologue to be hilarious and touching, but I agree with King that it is still a “work-in-progress.”

It will only get better over time. It is, however, definitely worth seeing now.

Today I am having a late lunch with John Scott Reed somewhere in my Hell’s Kitchen ‘hood.

We haven’t had face time in quite a while so we have a lot of catching up to do.

My entertainment (damn, I hope that will be the operative word) event for tonight is ...

7:05==>YANKEES/ORIOLES @ Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built. This is a crucial 3-game series against the 2nd place Birds, who just won’t go away.

At one point not too long ago our lead over them was a comfortable 10-games. Now it is only 3.

It will be Hiroki Kuroda (12-9) on the mound for The Bronx Bombers vs. Miguel Gonzalez (5-3) for The Orioles.

The weather is supposed to be good and I am rather confident we will have a sellout crowd.

I will probably head out to the stadium a bit earlier than usual (usually 6:00pm for a 7:05pm game) and do a little more walking and wandering in ‘da Bronx.

Hope that everyone has a great holiday weekend.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.38 miles (or, 11,764 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>284.19

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>794.81

OMFG!!==>yesterday was my 10th consecutive 6-mile day!!

It is another beautiful day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

This is something that all of my male loyal and faithful readers and followers should ponder ...

Yeah ... I know ... what if?

Anyway, now to move on ...

Totally enjoyed last night’s entertainment event ...

SUMMER SHORTS - Series A, three new one-act plays, was an interesting and entertaining evening and earns a==>B+

I was a bit surprised that the house was virtually sold out since the reviews have been mixed. I found all 3 of the plays to be interesting in their own way, especially the one involving 4 teenagers at a drive-in movie in Texas in 1969.

This was the final performance of Series A.

I got to the theater about an hour earlier than usual so I could spend some time in a walk and wander session in the Park Avenue area from 59th Street up to 72nd Street and back. Man, this area is worlds ... no ... make that galaxies ... away from where I live in Hell’s Kitchen.

When the show was over I opted not to walk back to the apartment.

As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, my 1,079 mile adventure/challenge is slowly taking over my life.

Yesterday was my 10th consecutive 6-mile day. For the past 10 days I walked a total of 64.38 miles according to my Pedometer. Even Billi Pod knows that while the numbers are impressive, he needs to pull back just a bit, maybe into the 5-mile range. That would still allow him to put mileage in the storage locker for future use.

Yes ... beginning today that will be the new plan/schedule ... I hope ... maybe ... I mean ... well, I guess time will tell, won’t it?

Now ... don’t begin to worry. Billi Pod feels fine, with no ... and I mean ... no aches and/or pains anywhere. He is making this decision with the long-term goal in mind.

Moving on ...

The Yankees are playing TERRIBLE ball. Yesterday, our ace CC Sabathia basically sucked, we committed 3 costly errors, failed to get crucial hits with runners in scoring position and lost to the last place Blue Jays 8-5. We lost the series 2-1

Thank God I wasn’t there. It was painful enough to watch it on the tube.

Thankfully we have the day off and then we been a crucial 3-game series against the second-place Baltimore Orioles.

On a positive note==>the college football season is about to begin. Billi Pod loves watching college football regardless of who the teams are.

Tonight’s entertainment event certainly sounds interesting ...

9:00==>THE FIFTH DENTIST - “What do you do when your father owns a strip club and your mother works there? Become a dentist! A hilarious true story by America's funniest dentist, Mike King!” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This is playing at a theater in my immediate hood.

Thank God the fiasco known as The Republican National Congestion is almost over.

OMFG!!==>yesterday was my 10th consecutive 6-mile day!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.93 miles (or, 15,158 steps)

Average for past 10 days==>6.44 miles

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>278.81

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>800.19

Excellent Game Last Night

Why don’t we start off this posting with something just a bit different for you loyal and faithful readers and followers ...

Yeah ... I thought you might like this ... and I was right, wasn’t I. You are not hard to predict.

Anyway ... moving on ...

Last night out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built, the Yankees got great pitching from Phil Hughes, who gave up only 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings, and clutch hitting to win 2-1 over Toronto. It was a nail biter from the first pitch to the final out.

Rafael Soriano got the save, making up for Monday night’s fiasco.

This was my 31st game of the season and The Bronx Bombers record for those games is: 20 wins and 11 losses.

I went out to the stadium an hour earlier than usual for a walk and wander session. It was great and the weather was awesome.

The final game of the 3-game series is this afternoon at 1:05pm and it will be our ace CC Sabathia (13-3) vs. J.A. Happ (2-1). Of course Billi Pod will stay in to watch the game.

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:15==>SUMMER SHORTS - Series A - Three new one-act plays:

Drive In Dreams - “In 1969 4 high school friends from East Texas head off to the drive-in for a night of fun at the movies. By the end of the evening, teenage insecurity will clash with adult responsibilities.”

Spit - “Horace, a wise gray-haired African American, and Heather, a blond blue-eyed adolescent, face each other in a championship game of Spit.”

The Accidental Pundette - “The strange but true story of an actress/comedy writer who finds herself smack dab in the middle of race, politics, nasty emails.”

This is playing at the 59th Street Theater Complex, one of my favorite venues, and has received very mixed reviews.

After the show I will walk back to the apartment, of course.

OMFG!!==>yesterday was my 9th consecutive 6-mile day!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.20 miles (or, 13,565 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>271.88

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>813.32

TJ & Dave==>A

It is a very nice day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

As part of the internet research that I do for all of you loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace, I sometimes uncover things that may shed light on some of the deepest mysteries of life ... like this one ...

Yes ... you are so very welcome.

I am happy to report that last night’s entertainment event was excellent ...

TJ & DAVE, one hour of unscripted long-form improv==>A.

It was gut busting funny. They are so talented and they had the sold-out house roaring with laughter from the moment they took the stage. The hour flew by. I am soooooooo glad I saw them again.

Since the starting time for the show was 9:00pm I decided that I would walk down to The Village. I usually don’t walk long distances before a show because I don’t want to arrive at my theater all sweaty and icky but the weather was nice and I had plenty of time to rather leisurely stroll the 2.6 miles down to The Village, so I did.

On the way I listened to the YANKEES/TORONTO game on my trusty but now ancient Walkman and the Bronx Bombers were leading 6-3 going into the top of the 7th as I went into the Barrow Street Theatre for my show. Nice!!

Well, one hour later I was horrified to learn that The Bronx Bombers had turned into The Bronx Bummers when our closer Rafael Soriano blew the save and we ended up losing 8-7 in 11 innings. Bummer!!

And ... double-bummer ... Mark Teixeira had to leave the game with a strained calf muscle. He will be lost for at least a week and perhaps two weeks.

Remember that last week I posted that Billi Pod had a bad feeling in his gut about the remainder of the season? Yeah ... I know ... now he really does!

And, of course ...

My entertainment event for this evening is ...

7:05==>YANKEES/BLUE JAYS at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built, for game 2 of the series.

Pitching for the Yankees will be Phil Hughes (12-11) vs. Ricky Romero (8-11) for Toronto.

Still have a few leftover chores to do, so will post this now and try to get them done.

Yes, I have deliberately avoided any comments/observations about the upcoming Republican National Convention ... because .... it just ain’t worth the time and effort ...

OMFG!!==>yesterday was my 8th consecutive 6-mile day!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.75 miles (or, 14,752 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>265.68

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>813.32

Yesterday==>Sports On TV

I think we should start the week with something for all of you pet lovers out there in the hinterlands, wastelands and boondocks to ponder ...

This seems to make a lot of sense to moi.

Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, yesterday Billi Pod spent the majority of the day/evening in front of the tube watching sporting events.

First was the final game of the YANKEES/INDIANS series, which the Bronx Bombers won 4-2, to win the series. Unfortunately, Freddy Garcia just didn’t have it. Thankfully the bullpen came to his rescue.

Then it was the Little League World Series Championship Game, won by Japan 12-2 over Tennessee.

And then later was the Braves/Giants game on ESPN.

Yeah, I know ... a lots of sports but it was just what Billi Pod was in the mood for.

Now, before you pass judgment ... hold on .. read the rest of the posting ...

In between the LL game and the ESPN game I headed up to the Upper Westside for a 4 mile walk and wander session.

I took the subway up to 72nd Street and then walked up to 76th Street and walked back and forth on 76th, 77th and 78th Streets from Central Park West to Riverside Drive.

Why am I doing the Upper Westside? Well ... little foot traffic traveling East and West and I love the neighborhood feeling of the mostly classic buildings. It just feels good to me.

I know that if I am going to be able to successfully meet my 1,079 mile challenge/adventure I will have to maintain a mindset that I am enjoying the walking for the sake of walking ... not to meet some fictional goal that I set for myself.

This has been the most daunting aspect of the challenge/adventure thus far because in the past I have prided myself on being able to plan the shortest and fastest route from point A to point B in Manhattan.  Now I am in a mindset of picking the route that will easiest add to my mileage. Not an easy task.

Anyway ... moving on ...

Today, being Monday, will be my usual errands and chores day and then for the evening it will be ...

9:00==>TJ & DAVE - “One hour of unscripted long-form improv.” (Off Broadway - discounted ticket).

These guys are part of Chicago’s Second City and I have seen them perform several times, the last time back on June 1, 2012, and they are unbelievably talented and gut-busting funny.

They are playing downtown in The Village at The Barrow Street Theatre and I will probably walk back to the apartment when the show is over.

Tonight the Yankees begin a 6-game home stand at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built, with 3 games vs. Toronto and 3 games vs. Baltimore. I will be at 3 of the games.

On the mound tonight for the Yankees it will be David Phelps (3-4) vs. Henderson Alvarez (7-11) for the Blue Jays.

A major HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to John Scott Reed aka Fabson, who is celebrating his 26th birthday today.

As many of you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, Scott is originally from Lakeland, FL, and he has been a resident of NYC since he graduated from High School. He is currently Director of Operations/Executive Assistant to Lori Levine of Flying Television, a talent booking and brokering firm.

Scott is living life to its fullest here in The Big Apple and I am so happy for him and proud, too!!

OMFG!!==>yesterday was my 7th consecutive 6-mile day!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.18 miles

Mileage for last seven days==>44.50

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>258.93

Miles in my storage locker==>50.88

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>820.07
