Yankees Sweep - Boston F**kSox Tonight - Medical Update

Monday==>Yesterday afternoon the Bronx Bombers completed a 3-game sweep of the Braves at Turner Field in Atlanta, with a 20-6 pounding, collecting 21 hits, including HRs from Jacoby Ellsbury, Chase Headley and Stephen Drew.

Nathan Eovaldi won his 9th consecutive game to move to 14-2, although he lasted only 5 innings.

I alternated between watching the Yankee game and the Little League World Series Championship game between Japan and Pennsylvania.

In that game Japan won 18-11, pounding out 22 hits and overcoming an 8-run first inning deficit.

The attendance for the tournament was a record breaking 499,964, which I think is totally AWESOME.

While all the baseball was excellent, the highlight of the day was having dinner with my son Bill III aka The Bill at our favorite Winter Park restaurant, the Outback Steakhouse on Aloma Avenue.

We both had sirloin steaks and they were great, as usual. Then, on the way back to the apartment we made a stop at Krispy Kreme for ... tada ... some chocolate glazed donuts. A great way to end a great day.

Moving on ...

Today, being Monday, Billi Pod will be working on his usual errands and chores list and then ...

This evening at 7:10pm from that fetid cesspool known as Fenway Park it will the first game of a 3-game series against the lowly and pathetic Boston FuckSox.

On the mound for the Yankees (72-57) will be Ivan Nova (5-6) coming off his worst outing of the season against the Astros vs. the rookie Eduardo Rodriguez (7-5) for the FuckSox (60-70).

Of course, your favorite Sunshine State blogger will remain in the cool and comfortable confines of his apartment to watch the Yankees kick butt.

In closing==>this is advance notice that I will not post on this blog tomorrow because I have an appointment at 1:00pm at Winter Park Memorial Hospital for a biopsy of one of the lymph nodes in my pelvis. This is the final procedure that my oncologist needs in order to prepare a treatment program so I can begin to ...

Baseball Heaven - Dinner With The Bill - Alex & Gina

Sunday==>I hope all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers are having a great weekend so far because your favorite Sunshine State blogger certainly is ... because ...

Saturday was an excellent day for a baseball nut like moi. It started with two terrific games in the Little League World Series ...

In the first game Japan beat Mexico 1-0 in extra innings. Then, Pennsylvania beat Texas 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning (remember, regulation play in Little League is only 6 innings).

The attendance for the PA/TX game was 45,000+ and that is pretty awesome in and of itself. Think about it ... can you imagine being 12 or 13 years old and playing baseball before a roaring crowd of over 45,000? Think about it ...

So ... Japan and Pennsylvania will play at 3:00pm today for the World Championship. I will, of course, be watching and pulling for PA.

Then for the evening ...

The Yankees won a nail-biter over the Braves in Atlanta by a score of 3-1 as rookie Luis Severino tossed 6 shutout innings and DiDi Gregorius and Brian McCann each had RBI doubles.

The win allowed the Bronx Bombers to remain 1.5 games behind Toronto in the AL East race.

This afternoon @ 1:35pm from Turner Field in Atlanta the Yankees will go for a sweep of the 3-game series against the Braves.

On the mound for the Yankees (71-57) will be Nathan Eovaldi (13-2), who is becoming the ace of the staff vs. Julio Teheran (9-6) for the Braves (54-75).

Moving on ...

Yesterday the weather here in Winter Park was pretty nasty during the day and for most of the evening ... rain ... rain ... and more rain.

This kept me from my usual walking and wandering session(s) so ... my walking mileage was accumulated by my baseball walking regimen. In case you have forgotten ... when I watch a baseball game after each half inning, each pitching change and break in play, I get up and walk rather rapidly around the apartment.

Yeah, it gets boring really fast but ... over time the steps really add up. For Saturday it was==>4.57 miles. Not bad, IMHO.

Moving on ...

Tonight I will have dinner with my son Bill III aka The Bill at Outback Steakhouse on Aloma Avenue in Winter Park. Really looking forward to this.

I want to close this posting by sharing a great recent picture of my grandson, Alex Falletta, and his wife, Gina. They and their two darling daughters, Saylor and Finley, will be coming down to Florida over Labor Day weekend and will stay with The Bill at his new digs in Castleberry. Can’t wait!!

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND.

Baseball - Billi Pod’s Plans for Saturday - Interesting Picture

Saturday==>I am happy to report to my loyal and faithful readers and followers that yesterday was an excellent day for your favorite Sunshine State blogger here in hot and humid Winter Park.

First, with multiple trips to Publix, some late afternoon walking and wandering, and his usual walking regime during baseball games, Billi Pod was able to record 5.32 miles on his WeightWatcher’s Pedometer, the best mileage in 16 days. Nice!!

Then, on the baseball scene ...

Last night in Atlanta Didi Gregorius hit a 3-run HR and drove in a career high 6 runs as the Bronx Bombers crushed the Braves 15-4. After a shaky first inning our starter, Masahiro Tanaka, settled down to hold Atlanta to 3 runs and 5 hits over 7 innings.

We remain 1.5 games behind Toronto for the lead in the AL East, however. Oh well ...

This brings us to today and ... guess what ... Billi Pod plans to be a total couch potato to watch baseball in the cool and comfortable confines of his new apartment, in front of his 42” flat screen TV.

During the afternoon it will be the Little League World Series ...

12:30pm==>Japan vs. Mexico - International Final; then,

3:30pm==>Pennsylvania vs. Texas - United States Final

Both games will be carried on ABC.

The winners will then meet for the World Championship at 3:00pm on Sunday, also on ABC.

Then, for the evening it will be ... yes ... another drum roll ...

7:10pm==>YANKEES vs. BRAVES @ Turner Field in Atlanta, for game two of the 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (70-57) will be rookie Luis Severino (1-2) vs. Matt Wisler (5-4) for the Braves (54-74).

Will close out this posting with a picture I think most of you loyal and faithful readers and followers will enjoy ...
You are so very welcome.

Worker Bees - Medical Update - Some Baseball

Friday==>TGIF to all of my Worker Bee friends out there in the morass known as cyberspace.

I know it has been a long and dull week for you, as usual, in your cubicles, wait-stations, broom closets etc. etc.  ... but ... remember ... we poor retirees are dependent on you to maintain our pathetic lifestyles, as we eke by on our meager pensions, funded by your efforts.

Thankfully, you will never know, first hand, what it means to be a retiree since you will work, of course, until you drop dead. So ... keep on keeping on out there in the boondocks, wilderness and wastelands ... please ...

Moving on now ...

I am happy to report that I have now scheduled the next procedure in my quest to KICK CANCER’S ASS.

Yep, the biopsy of the large lymph node in my pelvis is now scheduled for 1:00pm on this coming Tuesday at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

They told me that I don’t need to have anyone with me for the procedure so I will Uber to and from the hospital.

Moving on some more...

As I reported yesterday ... the evening was spent in front of my 42” flat screen TV watching baseball ... first the Little League World Series and then various MLB games.

Yes, I know it is a lot of baseball but ... remember ... your favorite Sunshine State blogger is a HUGE baseball fan, virtually regardless of who is playing ... and ... this time of the year many of the games have serious impacts on how the post-season will ultimately align.

Which means ... tada ... another drum roll please ...

This evening will also be spent in the cool and comfortable confines of my new apartment, watching ...

7:30pm==>YANKEES vs. BRAVES @ Turner Field in Atlanta, for the first game of a 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (69-57) will be Masahiro Tanaka (9-6) coming off a loss to Cleveland vs. the struggling rookie Williams Perez (4-4) for the Braves (54-73).

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers ...

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND, as together we ...

Medical Update - Lunch With Linda Goshorn

Thursday==>OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... I know this posting is delayed and that I didn’t post yesterday ... but ... now your favorite Sunshine State blogger will bring you up-to-date ... starting with ...

I won’t bore you with all of the details about yesterday’s appointment with my new oncologist, Raul Castilla, with the Cancer Institute of Florida, other than to say that I liked him even though we had over an hour wait before he saw us. By us I mean, of course,  me and The Bill. Oh well ...

Bottom line==>he wants to do one more test, a biopsy of one of the enlarged lymph nodes in my pelvis, before he makes his complete evaluation and recommendation(s) on how we will, together, KICK CANCER’S ASS!!

I am waiting for a call from Winter Park Memorial Hospital to schedule the procedure and I will, of course, keep you loyal and faithful readers and followers up-to-date.

When I got back to the apartment I just wasn’t in the mood to try to write on this blog ... I hope you understand and forgive the delay.

I spent the remainder of the day/evening in front of my 42” flat screen TV watching baseball, the Little League World Series and then various MLB teams.

So ... let’s move on to today.

This morning my dear dear friend Linda Goshorn drove down from Gainesville and we had a terrific lunch at a great French restaurant, Cafe d’France, on Park Avenue in Winter Park.

The food was awesome and we had a great time doing some much needed catching up.

As many of you know, Linda was married to retired 5th District Court of Appeals Judge Gil Goshorn, who left us much too soon, almost 5 years ago.

So ... Linda==>thanks for coming down, thanks for lunch and ... seeya again soon!

Moving on ...

It is 3:00pm and ... guess what ... it is raining ... what a major surprise ... NOT!!

My plans for the remainder of the day and evening will be ... tada ... drum roll ...

To remain in the cool and comfortable confines on my apartment and watch some baseball ... the Little League World Series and then MLB.

The Yankees, thankfully, have the day off before they begin a 3-game series against the Braves in Atlanta.

Dog Sees God Was Excellent - The Yankees Win - More Baseball for Today.

Tuesday==>We will get today’s posting started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s excellent entertainment event ...

DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD, this “unauthorized parody” imagines the characters from Charles M. Schulz’s beloved Peanuts’ characters 10 years later as teenagers==>A.

In this comedy/drama the gang battles with drug use, suicide, eating disorders, bullying, rebellion, and sexual identity.

The names have been altered a bit but all of the characters and their backstory are easy to identify. “CB,” based on Charlie Brown, has lost his beloved dog and is struggling with existential questions of life and death and his sexual identity. Piano playing Schroeder is now the ostracized, “Beethoven.” Pigpen is now “Matt,” a germophobe. Sally has gone goth and Linus is “Van” a Buddhist stoner. Lucy, once the nickel psychologist, is a feisty pyromaniac who’s been sent off to an institution because she set Peppermint Patty’s hair on fire.

The young cast is totally excellent lead by Christopher Walen as CB and Chris Metz as Beethoven.

There are a lot of laughs but also some very very serious moments as the play attempts to answer the question: “who are we, really?”

I first saw this show in NYC in 2004 when it was part of the NY International Fringe Festival. I loved it back then, too.

The house was virtually sold-out and we were very much into the show.

So ...kudos go out to my friend David Leethe Director, and the outstanding cast and crew.

Last night was the final performance but I think they are trying to get it produced at the upcoming Orlando Fringe Festival.

If so ... you gotta see this show.

My seat for the show was excellent, made even better because I was seated with Jack and Margo Dixon. We had a nice conversation before the show. They are both heavily involved in “Hillary for President,” something I have also thought about ... hummmmm ... I was involved in two statewide campaigns way back when ... so ... maybe ... anyway ...

When the show was over I Ubered back to the apartment just in time to catch the final inning of the Yankees/Astros game.

Man, how exciting, because the Yankees won 1-0 in a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th inning on a sac-fly from Carlos Beltran.

We are now tied with Toronto for first place in the AL East.

Bad news==>In all likelihood the injury to CC Sabathia’s right knee will keep him out of the rotation for the rest of the season. Bummer!!

Moving on ...

At the moment my plans for today are to remain in the cool comfortable confines of my apartment to watch some more baseball.

For the afternoon it will be the Little League World Series ... then ... for the evening it will be ...

7:05pm==>YANKEES vs. HOUSTON, from Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built, in game 2 of the 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (69-55) will be Ivan Nova (5-5) vs. Dallas Keuchel (14-6) for the Astros (69-57).

In closing==>Tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm I will have my first appointment with my oncologist, Raul Castilla, at his office in Altamonte Springs. In all likelihood I will not be in the mood to write anything before the appointment. I will, however, share the results in a subsequent posting, I promise.

So ... together ... let’s ...
