NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC==>AWESOME!!

Friday==>First, a huge TGIF shout-out to all of my Worker Bee friends who are mired in their cubicles, wait-stations, broom closets etc. etc. etc., anxiously awaiting the beginning of the weekend, which doesn’t get started for them until at least 5:05pm.

Hang in there guys, gals and whatevers ... it will soon arrive ...

So ... let’s get started with my thoughts on last night’s entertainment event ...

NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall==>stellar in all aspects - AWESOME!!

The first work was Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, who received a well-deserved roaring standing ovation. It was beautiful.

The second work was Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique,” one of my favorite symphonies. The orchestra was also given a standing ovation upon the completion of this classic masterpiece.

Yes, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, this was classical music at its best and I left Lincoln Center with a huge smile on my face.

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

8:00==>TWO BY TWO @ The York Theatre - “This Richard Rodgers musical, starring Jason Alexander and Tovah Feldshuh, is about Noah and the building of the Ark and is part of the York Theatre Company's Musicals in Mufti Series.” (Off Broadway - full price ticket)
As a reminder, “Mufti” (pronounced MUFF' tee) means "in street clothes; without the usual trappings" and each show in the Series is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging.

As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, I am a huge fan of the York Theatre Company and its Artistic Director, James Morgan, who is also a Florida Gator.

All five dates for this show are sold out.

Moving on ...

In order to keep my theater-buddy Marty Kosarik aka Who-Is-He? happy, I will talk a bit about sports ...

Man, talk about putting your foot in your mouth==>recently acquired Kevin Youkilis shows up clean shaven for his first Yankee spring training and says, “I’ll always be a Red Sox.” Trust me, this is not what Bronx Bomber fans want to hear.

As expected that stupid comment has already created a firestorm in the local press, as shown in the following headlines in today’s papers ...

“PUT A SOX IN IT! New Yank Youk professes love for Boston in first Bomber appearance.” - back page of the Daily News

“RED BLOODED. New York Youkee: I’ll always be a Sox guy.” - back page of the New York Post.

“Youkilis Enters His New Clubhouse With a New Look.” - sports page in the New York Times.

In the Times article the “I will always be a Red Sox” comment is buried in the story. Well, what did you expect ... it isn’t called the Gray Lady for no reason.

In Billi Pod’s opinion this reveals that Youkilis is less than thrilled at being a Yankee and is letting out some of his frustration that no other team had any interest in acquiring him.

Oh the drama and you can rest assured, more is on the horizon, so stay tuned.

Oh ... and in closing ... the weather forecast is for light snow in the late evening, continuing into Saturday. Yes ... just what we need here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.02 miles (or, 6,599 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,140.93 miles

GO GATORS AND GO YANKEES!!
