MIDSUMMER (A Play With Songs)==>A-

It is a gray and nasty day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World==>34º @ 11:00am, misting rain with much more bad and yucky stuff in the forecast for the rest of the day and into the evening.

As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, in yesterday’s posting I reported that I had nothing scheduled for the evening and would, in all likelihood, see a movie, probably LIFE OF PI. Well ... things changed at the last minute.

Yes, a very interesting sounding show came up on one of my services and I quickly booked it. Once again, a theater event won out over a movie. Make no mistake about it, if Billi Pod has to choose between a theatrical event and a motion picture==>the theater wins every time.

This is the show ...

MIDSUMMER (A Play With Songs) - “A musical rom-com, set in Edinburgh, Scotland, about a pair of mismatched potential lovers over a lost weekend of bridge burning, car chases, wedding bust ups, midnight trysts and a small fortune to redistribute.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This two-person musical won the Best of Edinburgh Award last year and has transferred with the original cast, Cora Bissett and Matthew Pidgeon, who are outstanding. It sold-out tours in Canada, Washington DC and Australia.

Folks, this show is==>hilarious, whimsical, often melancholy, heartbreaking, crude, rude, profane, original and enlightening, with virtually nonstop punchlines and plot twists. It is also extremely well performed. You will leave the theatre with a smile on your face, trust me on this.

Billi Pod’s report card==>A-

I saw this with my theater-buddy Marty Kosarik and he also gives it an A-.

The show is playing at the Theatre Row complex and runs through January 26th.

Billi Pod says==>see it now!!

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:30==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall - The program is:
Brahms - Piano Concerto No. 1, performed by Yefim Bronfman; and, Sibelius - Symphony No. 2
(subscription series)

The concert will be conducted by Lorin Maazel. I am definitely in the mood for some classical music.

I will head out to Lincoln Center around 6:00pm to do some walking in the underground areas of Lincoln Center, out of the elements.

After looking at my entertainment schedule for the remainder of the month I am happy to report that I have some major music events already booked. Yes, for the remaining 16 days in the month I have already scheduled 7 ... yes ... 7 music events, most of them classical ... how ‘bout dat? And, there are a couple more I am thinking about adding, so ... stay tuned ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.67 miles (or, 8,040 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,033.22 miles

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>45.78 miles
