IN ACTING SHAKESPEARE==>A+

Good morning my loyal and faithful readers and followers. It is a sweltering morning here in the Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. The temperature has risen to a blistering and uncomfortable 54ยบ. Where or where has the beloved winter gone? Oh well ... now I have no excuse not to leave the cozy confines of PHC and do some major outdoor walking and wandering. And ... I will do just that as soon as I post this and then do a couple of errands.

Attention all of my theater-nut buddies==>you must read Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday’s entertainment event ...

IN ACTING SHAKESPEARE, the one-man show that weaves Shakespeare’s life with the performer/playwright’s days as a fisherman and nights as a classical actor==>A+

This is a totally enjoyable and educational performance by James DeVita about his unlikely transformation from a Long Island fisherman into a late-blooming actor-playwright, currently based in Wisconsin at the American Players Theater, a classical repertory company.

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting Billi Pod must reveal to you loyal and faithful readers and followers that he has never been a  Shakespeare affectionatto, so he had a few misgivings about this show. Well, folks, I found myself totally engrossed in this work from the moment DeVita walked on stage. His acting skills are superb as he portrays multiple characters during his journey from fishing boat to stage.

I learned so much about The Bard of Avon and you will too.

Its running time is a little over 2 hours, with an intermission and it runs though February 3rd.

Billi Pod Says==>this is a MUST SEE!! So ... get thee hither to The Pearl Theatre on W. 42nd Street.

Moving on ...

Tonight's entertainment event is ...
7:30==>COLLISION - “A black comedy about chance encounters between three students, a professor, and a stranger in a college dormitory at a Midwestern college. What happens when all the wrong people meet at exactly the right time?” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

Yes, there is that dreaded phrase “black comedy” yet again. The show is being presented by The Amoralists Theatre Company at the Rattlestick Theatre down in The West Village. Frankly, in the past I have had a shaky relationship with both of them, with most of the things I have seen falling into either the “loved-it or totally hated-it” category. We will see ...

In closing ...

As the stats at the bottom of this posting reveal, the past week’s mileage was well below my usual average, clocking in at only 25.58 miles, or a daily average of 3.65 miles. The reason is quite simple ... I have gotten bored out of my skull at walking The Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central, Penn Station, subway platforms, etc etc etc, solely for the purpose of logging in mileage.

I knew this was going to happen this time of the year and that cold weather was going to be a major factor. Oh well ... this is one of the major downsides of living up here during the winter.

So ... it is now time to post this and head out for some major outdoor walking and wandering ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.02 miles (or, 4,434 steps)

Mileage for week==>25.58 miles (average 3.65 miles per day)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,022.88 miles

Mileage remaining until 4/23/13==>56.12 miles
