Saturday==>An Awesome Entertainment Doubleheader

Good morning my loyal and faithful readers. Billi Pod is happy to report that yesterday was an awesome entertainment doubleheader ... so let’s get right to it with his report cards on each event ... first ...

NATIONAL FESTIVAL CHORUS @ Carnegie Hall==>A<==each of the performing groups: Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Singers; Booker T. Washington String Orchestra; and, Masterworks Festival Chorus with the New York City Chamber Orchestra, was outstanding.

I had an incredible comp. seat - first tier, center, box seat. The face-value on the ticket was $110.00. Yep ... that's right==>$110.00. WOW!!

In the box next to me was a family of 6 - mother, father, 3 brothers and grandmother - whose teenage daughter/sister/granddaughter was in the Masterworks Festival Chorus. Their joy and excitement spilled over and made the whole event even more enjoyable for me.

There was a sorta mind-blowing event during the program. What, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well it went down like this ...

The second performance group was the string orchestra from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, TX. On their program was:

“Finestra - Conducted by the composer Chase Dobson, sophomore.”

OMFG!! A High School sophomore conducting his own work in Carnegie Hall. OMFG!!

A tall lanky kid come on stage and conducted the work and it was absolutely beautiful. When it was over the audience stood and gave him a loud ovation.

Can you even imagine what was going through this kid's mind ... 16 years old and all of this happening at Carnegie Hall in New York City, The Greatest City In The World. Wow!!

When the concert was over I left Carnegie Hall with a smile on my face. I then walked back to the apartment.

The evening’s entertainment event was at the studio theater at Theatre Row, right next door to 420 W. 42nd Street.

TAKE TEN - NATIONAL MFA PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL, six ten-minute plays by emerging young playwrights==>A.

Each of the 6 short plays was well written and very well performed. The house was sold-out, with mostly theatre-involved folks. It was a very pleasant evening.

What wasn’t pleasant was watching the end of the YANKEE/KANSAS CITY game which the Yankees lost 5-1 on another sucky performance by Hiroki Kuroda and our continuing dead bats. We were 0-9 with runners in scoring position. Barf!!

Today’s entertainment event is ...

4:00==>ELEPHANTS ON PARADE 2012 - “This award-winning one-act festival features 2 world premieres and 4 New York premieres, in which hilarity and heartbreak ensues as people strive to connect to one another amidst the chaos of everyday life.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)

This is playing at a theatre in the East Village. When the show is over, weather permitting, I plan to walk back to PHC, a distance of 3.25 miles.

In closing==>have a great rest of the weekend everyone!!

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!

Hey! I did a Google search of myself a while back, just out of curiosity, and I was very pleased to have found this. I really appreciate your enthusiasm about the concert! It was absolutely incredible, that's for sure, hearing the music performed at all, let alone at Carnegie Hall! And just seeing New York was pretty awesome, too.
