A Continuing Problem At Yankee Stadium.

First ... I am happy to report to you loyal and faithful readers that last night’s 2-1 win over The Orioles took only 2 hours and 22 minutes, largely due to a great performance from our starter Hiroki Kuroda.

It was a very exciting game to watch but I want to comment again on something that I have written about before ... and that is ... lots and lots of empty seats.

Yes, the announced attendance was 36,890 ... but ... actual bodies in seats was a lot less. Folks, this is a continuing problem in the House That Greed and Ego Built, brought about largely due to insane increases in: ticket prices, parking fees and concessions.

And ... even though it was a close game, the crowd never really seemed into the game, like it would have been in old Yankee Stadium. To paraphrase a comment by a fellow blogger ...

“The inevitable consequence of billion-dollar cathedrals of luxury boxes is a wealthier, more corporate, less engaged fan.”

And that is just what has happened in the new Yankee Stadium. Will it get better? Can it correct itself? I honestly don’t know ...

Oh well ... moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:30==>FREIBURG BAROQUE ORCHESTRA @ Alice Tully Hall - “All-Bach program: Complete Orchestral Suites Nos 1-4.” (complimentary ticket).

When the concert is over, weather permitting, I will walk back to PHC while listening to the last innings of the YANKEES/ORIOLES game on my trusty but now ancient Walkman.

Have just compiled the entertainment stats for April and ... tada ... they are==>AWESOME!! Will make a separate posting later today or tomorrow.

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
