Leap of Faith Report Card and Birthday Plans.

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Broadway show LEAP OF FAITH, starring Raul Esparza as a Holy Roller con man, who gets stung by the law and a small-town girl in Kansas==>B.

It gets a B only because of Raul Esparza. He is outstanding. I had expected to like this a lot more than I did. Yes, it is kinda fun, with a lot of rather frantic dance numbers and a highly energetic cast ... but ... great theater it ain’t. I think critics will cut it to pieces.

Moving on ...

The weather is just perfect today, so I am gonna do some serious walking and wandering this afternoon, probably down in The Village.

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

7:05==>YANKEES/TWINS @ Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built. Game 2 of the series. Our ace CC Sabathia will be on the mound. Weather will be good==>72º.

Last night Freddie Garcia had yet another lackluster performance in our 7-3 loss. Jeter’s bat remains hot.

More moving on ...

OK ... in response to all of those emails and texts ... some of them pretty snarky ... I will share with you loyal and faithful reader what my present plans are for my 78th birthday on this coming Monday, April 23 ... weather permitting ... tada ...

10:00am - take subway from 42nd Street up to 125th Street, stroll down to 120th Street (42nd Street + 78 blocks = 120th Street), then ... walk south down Frederick Douglas Blvd. (Central Park West) to 81st Street, then one block over to Columbus Avenue (9th Avenue), then south on Columbus Avenue back to 420 W. 42nd Street.

I already know that there is no 78 W. 78th Street because of the American Museum of Natural History.

I estimate the total mileage to be approximately 4.5 miles.

Then for the evening ...

7:00==>NEWSIES - “Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teen aged "newsies," who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. (Broadway - discounted ticket).

I, luckily, got my ticket to this show as soon as they went on sale. This is gonna be a mega-hit which will run for years.

After the show will come back to PHC and grill a steak on my George Forman grill, with baked potato, grilled onions and my libation of choice, Fresca. Will watch the rest of the Yankees/Texas game.

Last year I walked 7.7 miles or roughly 154 blocks and the year before I walked 76 blocks. This year I don’t feel in the mood to try for 156 blocks.

Of course, all of this depends on the weather, so please keep your fingers crossed ...

I will close this posting with ...
