Finally a fun game in great weather last night at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed Built, as the Yankees bury the Rangers 12-4.
The Bombers hit 5 home runs with Teixeira hitting two. The bottom of the lineup was filled with substitutes for Jeter, A-Rod and Martin but their bats were alive, fortunately.
This was Billi Pod’s 17th game of the season and their record for those games is a rather disheartening 7 wins and 10 losses, not exactly what he had anticipated at the beginning of the season.
I can honestly say that this was the first game of the season where the people around me seemed to be into the game and really enjoying themselves.
Yes ... I know ... I know ... but folks it is mega-expensive to attend a game at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed Built, and ticket holders have every right to expect a bang-for-their-buck, for their team to be competitive. Jus sayin’
There is an afternoon game at 1:05pm and a guy named Brian Gordon (Who?? WTF??) will be on the mound for the Yanks, making his first major league appearance since 2008. He is 32 years old and is a converted outfielder. WTF?
Folks, this is another indication of the deep trouble the Yankee rotation is in at the moment. Jus sayin ...
Anyway ...
Billi Pod’s report card on 4,000 MILES==>C+<==story line, about a 21 year old slacker who crashes in his 91 year old grandmother’s West Village apartment, is basically uninvolving.
It is 15 minutes too long. Good acting saves it for being a total washout/bore.
The main character is 91 years old and that was the median age of the matinee audience that was 70% female and 30% male.
Tonight’s entertainment event is ...
7:30==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC @ Avery Fisher Hall - Mussorgsky’s Prelude to Khovanshchina and Pictures at an Exhibition; Walton’s Violin Concerto; and, Ravel’s Pavane pour uno Infante defunte. (season subscription series).
I am happy to report that my BFF Ginger Flowers of Atlanta, GA, is now back home. Whew!!
