Billi Pod Says==>HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

A big HAPPY FATHER’S DAY shout out to all of my male loyal and faithful readers out there in cyberspace ... hope you and your families have a great day.

Speaking of great days==>yesterday was an awesome day for Billi Pod, make no mistake about it.

Yes, yes ... I know ... I know ... there is "that" word again==>awesome. Just get over it, OK?

Anyway ... it started of with ...

2:30-10 x 25 (Series C)==>A-<==9 short plays. 6 were excellent, 2 so-so, and 1 by Sam Shepard called EVANSCENE/SHAKESPEARE IN THE ALLEY was totally, and I mean TOTALLY, incomprehensible.

No one seated around me had any clue what it was about. Man, I think he is soooooooooo over-rated. Not joking.

When the show was over Billi Pod walked back to PHC, a distance of a little over a mile, while listening to game 2 of the YANKEES/CUBS series on his trusty, but now ancient, Walkman.

It was an up and down game for the Yankees to put it mildly. They played very sloppy ball defensively, with the exception of a sparkling play by Brett Gardner who threw out the runner trying to score from 3rd base on a fly ball. Russell Martin blocked the plate to keep the runner from scoring. It was the turning point of the game.

Again they failed to get crucial hits with runners in scoring position. All of that said, they did win the game 4-3 with AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi getting the win.

Tonight is the final game of the series and it will be at 8:00pm on ESPN, meaning it will be around midnight when the game is finally over.

For the evening caught a great movie==>MIDNIGHT IN PARIS - “Woody Allen’s whimsical comedy follows Owen Wilson as a writer on a visit to Paris with his fiancé and her family. One night, at midnight, he is swept back in time to the golden era of the 1920s, the city’s glory years. He meets Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, Picasso, Dali, Cole Porter, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, T.S. Eliot, Matisse and many others.”

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting Billi Pod has to admit that he isn’t a fan of Woody Allen’s work, but, folks, this is a “must-see” movie when it gets released out there in the vast hinterlands. See it!!

The cinematography is breath-taking. In scene after scene I was able to say to myself ... hey ... I’ve been there ... thanks, of course, to all of the time I have spent in Paris with my former college roomie David West.

Billi Pod’s entertainment schedule for today is a bit different in that he is going to see two shows at The York Theater as part of their “Musicals in Mufti” series.

I know, I know ... you are wondering to yourselves ... what is in the Hell is a “Musicals in Mufti?” Well ... here it is ...

'Mufti' (pronounced MUFF' tee) means "in street clothes; without the usual trappings" and each show in the series is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. To date, the York has presented over 75 Mufti concert revivals of musical theater gems from Broadway, Off-Broadway and London, celebrating great writers from the world of musical theater.

Yer welcum ... so ... my entertainment schedule is ...

5:30==>I’M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD - “Originally produced in the late 70s, the story follows a cabaret singer, Heather, as her act evolves to feature emancipating feminist pieces, much to the chagrin of her dominating manager.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket).

Then ...

8:30==>STILL GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER - “This never-before-seen-or-heard sequel reveals what happened to Heather in the ensuing 30 years after she first took her act on the road.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

Will have about 90 minutes between shows, time enough to have a slice at Ray Bari, Billi Pod’s favorite Eastside pizza joint.

In all honesty, I have to share that I am also contemplating catching an early movie. That would make the day a triple header, pretty awesome, even for Billi Pod ...

We will see ... anyway ...

The Gators won their first game in The College World Series, beating Texas 8-4. They will play Vanderbilt Monday night @ 7:00pm

GO GATORS AND GO YANKEES!!
