Thursday - More Baseball For Billi Pod

It is a very nice morning in The Greatest City in the World and it is supposed to be beautiful for the rest of the day.

This afternoon I will be at Yankee Stadium for the final game of the Yankees/Detroit series with Phil Hughes on the mound for the Bronx Bombers, who remain in a tie with The Rays for first place in the AL East. The Ray’s just ain’t going away.

The Yankees won last night 9-5 in a game that had a nasty overtone resulting from resentment directed at Brett Gardner for a slide he made into 2nd base in Monday’s game. He was trying to break up a double play. He injured the Tiger’s 2nd baseman. Last night Gardner was the leadoff batter and he was hit by a pitch resulting in a warning to both benches.

The tension was palatable during the rest of the game. Luckily the Yankee bats came alive and they hit 3 home runs to seal the win for Dustin Mosely, filling in for the injured Andy Pettitte.

Had a very interesting experience during the game. What, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well, for this game I was not in my usual section, rather, an excellent seat on the 3rd base side, on the field level. Seated next to me was a 30s couple and we struck up a conversation before the game started.

They are Karen & Anders Ericksson, from Sweden, now living in Canada, and were attending their very first ever baseball game. They were in total awe of Yankee stadium and the crowd. During the course of the game they asked me tons of questions and I was happy to share with them my knowledge of the game. For me it made an exciting game even more enjoyable.

Tonight I have a show scheduled at a theater next door to PHC. It is AN ERROR OF THE MOON-“a fictional portrait of the brothers Edwin and John Wilkes Booth, the rock star actors of their day. Edwin tells his tale of a man consumed by jealousy, of bitter sibling rivalry, and the mad obsession that sparked the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.”

GO YANKEES!!
