Happy Birthday Bill III - Every Brilliant Thing - The Actual Dance - Upcoming Schedule

Saturday==>HAPPY 46th BIRTHDAY to my son Bill III aka Billyboy aka The Bill who lives in Orlando, FL, where he is a High School math teacher, an avid golfer, coach of his school’s boy’s golf team, a Crimson Tide fan and a GREAT son, pal and buddy.

Love ya Billyboy!!

Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, it is still very cold here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In the World.

Although we have sun, azure blue skies and a few puffy clouds the temperature at 8:30am is only 18º, with wind chill it is down to . Now that’s cold.

Luckily my entertainment event for today (details below) is at a theatre on my block so I won't have to be exposed to the elements for very long.

So ... let’s move on with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...

The Off Broadway show ...

EVERY BRILLIANT THING, about a young boy who attempts to ease his mother’s depression by creating a list of all the best things in the world, everything worth living for. Through adulthood, as the list grows, he learns the deep significance it has on his own life==>A

This one-man show, performed by British actor/comedian Jonny Donahoe, more than earns the rave reviews it has received from the local critics. It is totally different in that it is built around audience participation and involvement.

Before it begins Donahoe hands out slips of paper with numbers and lists of the best things in the World ... like ... ice cream, water fights, doing your homework on time, etc. etc. During the show he will then call numbers and the audience member responds.

I was given #1008 - dancing in the dark.

Audience members are also selected to play parts, such as his veterinarian, his elementary school counselor, his father and his girlfriend/wife.

The story line is about life and death and living with depression. Specifically, what makes being on this Earth worthwhile between your first breath and your last.

The sold-out house was totally into the show and we gave Donahoe a roaring standing ovation at curtain call.

Billi Pod says==>you gotta see this show.

It is playing at the Barrow Street Theatre in The West Village, has a running time of 65 minutes, without intermission, and runs through March 29th.

Moving on ...

As mentioned above, my entertainment event for this evening is an Off Broadway show ...

8:00==>THE ACTUAL DANCE - “A graceful, inspiring and heartwarming love story, written and performed by Samuel Simon, about his journey through the uncharted waters of his wife’s diagnosis of breast cancer.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of just 60 minutes, without intermission, and runs through February 1st.

Moving on some more ...
