Dian’s “Birthday” Brunch - Pro-football - College Football

Monday==>It is an overcast and basically nasty start to the week here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

Yeah ... the forecast for today is for rain for the majority of the day and into the early evening hours. It clears up tomorrow but it will be cold ... high in the mid-20s and low of 15º.

Oh well ... let’s move on to something much more positive ... and that is ...

The wonderful time I had yesterday with my dear friends Dian Crystal aka My Lady and Marty Kosarik aka Whatever at the trendy (and pricey) The Water Club restaurant located on the East River at East 30th Street.

As I mentioned in yesterday's posting, the restaurant is located about as far East as you can get from my Hell’s Kitchen apartment. It took me almost a hour to get there via walking and subway(s). Actually it wasn’t that bad because the wind had pretty much died down and it was a balmy 24º.

Marty and I were treating My Lady to brunch in celebration of her birthday, as listed on her Facebook profile. Ahem ... we later learned that her "real" birthday might actually be later on in the year ... WTF? Anyway ...

Folks, The Water Club is a first-class operation. The ambiance is excellent, the service is stellar and the food is terrific.

As an appetizer I had 3 mouthwatering crab cakes and then my main course was a Monte Cristo and it was wonderful.

For dessert we shared an “Eleven Layer Chocolate Cake” slice.
It was around 3:30pm when we split. It had been a wonderful early afternoon of fun, food and friendship.

Marty and I bussed and subwayed back to my ‘hood, where we split.

I returned to the warm and cozy confines of PHC and settled in to watch the final quarter of the Packers/Cowboys game, won by the Packers 26-21 after a critical catch in the final 4-minutes was overturned “on further review.”

I then spent the remainder of the afternoon and early evening watching the Colts/Broncos game, won by the Colts 24-13 in what was probably Peyton Manning’s final NFL game.

Yeah, Manning gave only a lackluster performance and that is giving him the benefit of the doubt.

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... let’s move on to today ...

Well, as many of you know, Monday is usually your favorite blogger’s errands and chores day, however, today ain’t gonna be it because he simply ain't gonna brave the elements ... period ... case close.

And, of course ... as you also know ... tonight is the highlight of the college football season ... tada ...

Ohio State (13-1) vs. Oregon (13-1) in The College Football National  Championship game at 8:30pm from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, carried on ESPN.

The Ducks are favored by 6-points.

Your favorite blogger is really torn about this game. On the one hand he really likes Urban Meyer, even though he ran away from The Gators, but Billi Pod also likes the Ducks Heisman Trophy winning QB Marcus Mariota. His heart is telling him to go with youth over age ... soooooooooooo ...

He is going to be pulling for the Ducks.

In closing ... with yesterday’s walking to and from The Water Club and then my in-apartment walking program while watching the football games, your favorite blogger recorded a rather remarkable 6.12 miles. Yep ... not bad.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>6.12  miles (or, 13,373 steps)

Total mileage for the week==>30.53 miles (average 4.36 miles per day)

Total mileage for 2015==>44.14 miles (average 4.01 miles per day)
