THE VIENNA BOYS CHOIR==>AAA+

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, I want to get right to the important stuff, like Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday afternoon’s concert, THE VIENNA BOYS CHOIR @ Carnegie Hall==>AAA+<==like, AMAZINGLY AWESOME AFTERNOON PLUS!!

What an outstanding performance of traditional and modern Christmas music.

The house appeared to be sold-out and my seat was super-excellent, in the orchestra, 6 rows from the stage Terrific. There were a lot of young people in my area and they all seemed to be enthralled with what was happening on stage. Everyone was basically well-behaved.

What wonderful voices. You know, as I have mentioned in previous postings about this group, I cannot imagine what it must feel like for a young boy to be performing in front of a packed house in Carnegie Hall, in the Greatest City In The World. Add to that the fact that several of them also performed as soloists, vocal and instrumental. Wow!!

In fact, one of the best soloist appeared to be no older than 10, but he had the vocal projection of an adult classical singer.

When the concert was over The Boys and their Director received a well-earned and well-deserved roaring standing ovation and then they gave us 3 encore performances, each of which also received a standing-o.

I want to share with you loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the hinterlands, wastelands and boondocks just a bit of background information on the group, taken from previous postings --
***********
“The Vienna Boys Choir was formed in 1498 and was under the control of the ruling Kings until 1918, when they became an independent and private institution.

Today the Choir maintains its own boarding school where 250 male students, from all over the world, study and rehearse. All of the choir boys must live in this boarding school. From this group, 100 members between the ages of 10 and 14 are selected and divided into 4 touring choirs.

Together they give around 300 concerts world-wide in front of approximately 500,000 people. Each group spends 9 to 11 weeks of the school year on tour.”

Yes, this epic concert certainly got Billi Pod into a festive holiday mood.

When the concert was over it had begun to lightly snow and it continued to do so for the remainder of the evening.

No way was I gonna get out in the elements so I stayed in the warm and cozy confines of PHC for the evening, watching pro-football.

Moving on ...

Today, being Monday, it is my usual errands and chores day and a lot will depend on how the weather develops. It is still nasty and cold out, with a temperature of 34º, wind chill 26º, at 10:00am. It is also lightly raining. No way is your favorite blogger going to go out in this mess ... no way.

Tonight’s entertainment event is more classical music ...

8:00==>BOSTON PHILHARMONIC YOUTH ORCHESTRA @ Carnegie Hall - “The first concert of the season is a mélange of styles from four different countries, each as different from the other as could be. It’s a rich feast for the players in the orchestra and for the audience. The program will include works by Verdi, Gandolfi, Ravel and Shostakovich” (concert - complimentary ticket).

I think this sounds very interesting.

Luckily, getting from PHC to Carnegie Hall in bad weather is no major problem because it entails only being outside for the 1 block walk from PHC to The Port Authority Bus Terminal subway entrance.

BREAKING NEWS==>The AP is reporting that retired Managers, Joe Torre, Tony La Russa and Bobby Cox have just been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. I agree.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.38 miles (or, 5,214 steps)

Total mileage for the week==>18.95 miles (average 2.70 miles per day)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>539.50 miles (average 3.35 miles per day)
