New York Philharmonic==>EXCELLENT, As Usual

Friday==>Billi Pod wants to start this posting with his report card on last night’s classical music concert at Lincoln Center ...

NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall, featuring: Beethoven - Symphony No. 8 and
Strauss - Ein Heldenleben, performed by Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow==>EXCELLENT, as usual.

Dicterow, who is retiring at the end of this season, received a roaring ovation for his performance of this extremely difficult Strauss piece.

Yes, it was a totally enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is another, but different, concert ...

8:00==>SPIRIT OF THE SEASON @ Symphony Space - “The Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps Symphonic Band celebrates the holidays with works by acclaimed composers John Williams, Camille Saint-Saens and Irving Berlin, as well as those beloved holiday standards Jingle Bells, The Twelve Days of Christmas and Danny Elfman's bone-chilling film favorite The Nightmare Before Christmas.” (concert - complimentary ticket)

They are performing at Symphony Space located at Broadway and 95th Street in the Upper Westside.

I have seen this highly professional group perform on several occasions and they do an excellent job, so I am really looking forward to this concert.

Bit of background ...

“Founded in 1979 as one of the first gay bands in the world, the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps is celebrated for a tradition of musical excellence that promotes equality and social acceptance. Audiences of all ages, ranging from connoisseurs to newcomers, leave each performance with an awareness of symphonic band literature and the enjoyment of hearing interpretations of familiar pieces."

"Recent Symphonic Band appearances include Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall; the Big Apple Corps was the first openly gay ensemble to perform at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.”

BREAKING NEWS==>As a result of changes in various plans, I will be spending Christmas with my son Bill III aka The Bill in Orlando, FL. Will head down there on Christmas Eve and return to NYC on the 27th.

Hopefully, we will be able to have some time with my grandsons Alex Falletta (with his wife Gina and their darling Saylor) and Chris Falletta. Really really looking forward to this because Christmas is, for me, all about being with family.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.33 miles (or, 5,104 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>552.42 miles (average 3.35 miles per day)
