LOVE, LINDA==>A

Thursday==>Good afternoon to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace.

It is a gray and overcast day here in the Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, but the temperature is much warmer than it has been for the past several days. It was 55º at noon, with the possibility of rain later in the afternoon and into the early evening.

So ... we will begin this posting with Billi Pod’s report cards on yesterday entertainment doubleheader, starting with ...

HANDLE WITH CARE, the story of a young Israeli woman, who speaks little English, who reluctantly travels with her grandmother to America, with hilarious results==>B

The show is extremely well performed by the 4-person cast, headed by the incomparable Carol Lawrence, and that saves what is a totally implausible and unbelievable story line.

The audience was about 80% females over 65 and I estimate that approximately 1/3 of them left at intermission.

The show is playing at the Westside Theatre on West 43rd Street, has a running time of 1:45, with intermission, and runs through February 23, 2014.

When the show was over I came back to the warm and cozy confines of PHC. I had a shocker when I got back ... WTF? ... the valet service has lost/misplaced my laundry - wash and fold (mostly bath towels) and 3 shirts. WTF?

Oh, well ... had the usual fruit and cheese plate and then it was time to head out to the second part of my entertainment doubleheader, the Off Broadway show ...

LOVE, LINDA, the life of Linda Lee Thomas, the Southern beauty who married and was a driving force behind legendary (and gay) songwriter Cole Porter==>A

Stevie Holland is absolutely terrific in this one-person musical that features many of Porter’s most-popular and well-known songs.

The story line is very informative and involving. You really care about Linda.

Billi Pod says==>SEE IT!!

It is playing at The York Theater (one of my favorite venues) on East 50th Street, has a running time of 1:30, without intermission, and runs through January 5th.

Moving on to today ...

At 6:00pm actor and new playwright Jesse Eisenberg will be appearing at The Drama Book Store on West 40th Street. This is the press blurb for this free event ...

“This actor and surprisingly clever dramatist reads from his latest work, and talks about his interest in unsavory characters and working with Vanessa Redgrave.”

I am a huge Jesse Eisenberg fan so I hope to be able to score a seat to this event.

Then for the rest of the evening ...

Unless something totally amazing shows up on one of his ticket services Billi Pod will stay in the warm and cozy confines of PHC to watch the live production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, starring Carrie Underwood as Maria, @ 8:00pm on NBC.

Moving on ...

No update yet on Ginger’s condition.

In closing==>we are marching toward reaching 100,000 blog page views by the end of the year. TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.06 miles (or, 6,698 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>532.75 miles (average 3.39 miles per day)
