HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

HAPPY 4th OF JULY to everyone out there in the hinterlands and in the vastness known as cyberspace.

OK ... OK ... let’s get right to it ...

Billi Pod has gotta man up and admit that the Wankies sucked yesterday, losing to the Yets 3-2 in 10 innings at Pity Field.

Freddy Garcia pitched an excellent game, turning it over to the bullpen to preserve the 2-1 lead. Robertson did his job in the 8th and Mariano came in for the 9th for the save. Well Mo blew it, giving up the tying run with 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter. Barf!!

The Yets won in the bottom of the 10th, abetted by an unforgivable error by Ramiro Pena, filling in for the still absent Derek Jeter. Thankfully Jeter is supposed to be in the lineup today.

Bottom line==>The Wankies found a way to lose a game they should have won. It was painful to watch, that’s for certain.

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting Billi Pod must admit that he had a very snarky posting all prepared for his FaceBook page, to be posted as soon as Mo got the final out. Oh well ...

Anyway, when the game was finally over Billi Pod hustled over one block to his entertainment event. So ...

Billi Pod’s report card on Zach Braff’s ALL NEW PEOPLE==>B+<==turned out to be more drama than comedy although there were a lot of laughs.

The basic premise ... a distraught man is saved from committing suicide by the unexpected arrival of a bunch of misfits ... is totally unbelievable. It was almost a game of ... “hey, my dark secret is soooooo much darker than yours, you loser.”

Having said that, great acting made it an entertaining and enjoyable evening, so Billi Pod recommends it.

Today entertainment schedule is ...

3:00==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC with THE UNITED STATES MARINE DRUM & BUGLE CORPS @ Avery Fisher Hall - “Star-Spangled Celebration” - works by Porter, Rodgers, Loewe, Gershwin & Sousa. (full price ticket).

I saw this performance last 4th of July and totally enjoyed it so Billi Pod is really looking forward to it.

Will stay in to watch YANKEES @ CLEVELAND INDIANS at 6:35pm, with AJ Burnett aka Loser Boi on the mound.

Then ...

9:00==>Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show. Unfortunately the new 65 story apartment building just West of 420 W. 42nd Street now blocks what was otherwise an unobstructed view of the fireworks areas on the Hudson River. Even from the roof of my building the view is blocked. Damn!! Oh well ... ain’t nothing I can do about this.

At this point I am not sure whether I will join the teeming hordes of viewers by walking the 2 1/2 blocks to the Hudson or simply stay in PHC and watch it on NBC.

Will be thinking about you Army Guy!

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
