What a wonderful way to begin this posting==>it can now be officially announced that CWO2 Alexander Falletta aka Army Guy and his beautiful wife Gina are going to become parents for the first time on January 19, 2012.
I couldn’t be happier for them. The gender of their baby is presently unknown. Unfortunately Alex will not be present when the baby is brought into this world but I am certain that Gina will be surrounded by family and friends.
And, my loyal and faithful readers out there in cyberspace this means ... tada ...
William A. Norris, Jr. aka Bill aka Billi Pod is going to be a Great-Grandfather and that is awesome!!
Congrats Alex and Gina ... love to you both.
Actually this sorta makes what is to follow seem pretty unimportant and mundane ...
But - OMFG!!==>The NY Philharmonic & Marine Drum and Bugle Corps concert yesterday afternoon was one of the VERY best, ever!!
The concert lasted about 2 1/2 hours but no matter because it was riveting from the very beginning.
The Philharmonic performed for the first part of the program and then the Drum and Bugle Corps came on after the intermission. The Corps performed alone and then both groups performed together to end the concert.
Frankly, it was very emotionally draining for me to see all of those young men on stage in uniform.
For me the most emotional performance was the “Armed Forces Service Medley,” during which members of the audience who had served in the military were invited to stand as they heard the themes of their respective branches. At the appropriate time I stood up for me and for Alex. Yeah==>two Army Guys!!
When the concert was over I walked back to the apartment feeling elated yet emotionally drained at the same time.
Last night AJ Burnett again earned his title of Loser Boi as he imploded in the 7th inning in the Yankees loss to Cleveland. Barf!!
The Captain, Derek Jeter, was in the lineup but he went 0 for 4. No matter ... he’s back and that is what is important to The Yankees.
The Macy’s Fireworks show was awesome, as usual. In the name of fair and impartial reporting I have to admit that Billi Pod entertained the thought of staying in PHC and watching everything on the tube.
Well at about 9:20pm the thought hit me ... WTF are you doing butt-hole ... you are in New York City and you are just blocks away from everything ... what are you doing sitting on the f**king couch?
Billi Pod quickly headed out the door, joined the teeming masses headed West and found a good viewing site about 2 blocks away from PHC. Two minutes after I found my spot the fireworks started exploding. Took tons of pictures
Soooooooo glad that reason prevailed over sloth.
Tonight’s entertainment event is ...
7:30==>DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY - “A musical - Just after WW I, the loneliest of souls arrives at an Italian villa disguised as a handsome young Prince, and for the first time experiences the joys and heartbreaks of life. But when he unexpectedly falls in love with a newly engaged young woman, the mysterious stranger discovers that love may in fact be stronger than death.” (Off Broadway - Roundabout Theater subscription series).
This show is still in previews and it has gotten very good advanced buzz.
Billi Pod will close with another shoutout to Alex and Gina ... Love ya lots and lots!!
GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
