OH YES!! So sweet==>The Bronx Bombers took it to the Yets @ Pity Field last night winning 5-1.

“YANKS RULE CITI IN SUBWAY OPENER: Nova, Bullpen Shut Down Mets.” - The Daily News

“SIX IN THE CITY: Yankees extend streak with win in Subway opener.” - The NY Post

Admittedly, we did get the benefit of what was probably a blown call in the 7th inning when Jose Reyes was called out sliding into 3rd base.

Game 2 is at 4:10pm with Bartolo Colon, coming off the DL, on the mound for the Yankees.

On to other things ... like ...

Yesterday afternoon Billi Pod saw the movie THE TREE OF LIFE - “An unhappy architect’s (Sean Penn) recollections of his childhood in 1950s Texas with an authoritarian dad (Brad Pitt), an ethereal loving mom (Jessica Chastain) and two younger brothers, takes place in the midst of a stunning depiction of the beginnings of the universe and Life on Earth.”

I knew from the beginning that this movie has caused a huge schism in the movie-critic world, some lavish in their praise and others totally disdainful. I also knew that it clocked in at 2 hours and 20 minutes.

So what can I say about it? Well, first of all the cinematography is incredible and the scenes involving the beginning of the universe were breathtakingly beautiful.

Beyond that, I haven’t a clue what the film is about. It is weird as f**k, to put it mildly. The acting by the 3 young boys is terrific. As is all-too-often the case lately, much of the critical dialogue was whispered. Man, do I hate this.

Yes, it did hold my attention and it brought back memories of growing up in a small town but I was also kinda relieved when it was over.

Does Billi Pod recommend it? Well ... in the name of fair and unbiased reporting==>only if you are a true cinema buff/affectionatto. Otherwise, save your money. Jus sayin ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is ...

8:00==>UNNATURAL ACTS - “A drama inspired by real events that occurred at Harvard University in the spring of 1920, when a secret court of administrators attempted to purge the university of suspected homosexual students. (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket).

This show has gotten very favorable reviews and I am really looking forward to seeing it.

It is a beautiful morning in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World and Billi Pod intends to take advantage of the nice weather by roaming for a couple of hours. Not sure where yet, probably downtown.

In closing ... I hope all of you loyal and faithful readers out there in cyberspace are having a happy and safe weekend. Be well ...

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
