WHISTLE A HAPPY TUNE - The Wankies - The Gators - A Car Show

Saturday==>We will get today’s posting started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...

The musical review ...

WHISTLE A HAPPY TUNE: A SALUTE TO RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN, this celebration of the legendary musical theatre writing team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II featured songs from Oklahoma, Carousel, State Fair, Allegro, South Pacific, The King and I, Pipe Dream, Cinderella, Me and Juliet, Flower Drum Song, and The Sound of Music==>THUMBS UP!!

This was a totally enjoyable evening’s entertainment, performed by a stellar cast that included some very talented youngsters. Unfortunately, due to a “computer glitch” there were no programs available so I am unable to identify the ensemble cast by name. Suffice it to say that the singing and dancing was uniformly excellent.

This was the opening night so the full-house included a lot of family members and friends of the cast, including, gasp ... several very very young kids, and some babies. OMG thought I before the show started ... this could be a problem. Well ... I was wrong ... the kids in the audience were all very well behaved, including the infants. Whew.

Billi Pod says==>see this show.

It is playing at the Breakthrough Theatre at 419 W. Fairbanks Ave. in Winter Park and runs Friday through Monday from June 12th through June 29th.

I am also happy to report that the weather was decent so my walks to and from the theater went well ... but ... on the walk back, around 10:15pm, I was the only person on the streets not in a car.

Another good thing about the show ... I didn’t have to watch the debacle that took place in Camden Yards in Baltimore as the Orioles kicked Wankie butt 11-3 as Michael Pineda just didn’t have it. Oh well ...

Tonight at 7:05pm is the second game of the 3-game series. On the mound for the Yankees (33-27) will be the still struggling CC Sabathia (3-7) vs. Bud Norris (2-4) for the Orioles (30-30).

And, while we are on sports ... my plans for this evening are to stay in the cool and comfortable confines of my new apartment to watch the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes @ 8:00pm in the opening round of The College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The game will be carried on ESPN.

GO GATORS!!

This afternoon, in my Winter Park Village, is an interesting sounding event ...

CAR SHOW & SIDEWALK SALE - “Cruise through the years as the Corvette Club of Orlando presents a generation of one of America’s ultimate sports cars, the Corvette! Bring the family for an afternoon of car gazing and shopping while being entertained by the smooth sounds of local favorite Johnny Mag Sax. There also will be a special appearance by Plato, the Publix Dinosaur, who will be giving balloons and other goodies courtesy of Publix Winter Park Village. You’ll also get a chance to vote on your favorite ‘Vette.”

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it. Will check it out. It only runs from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers, your favorite Sunshine State blogger will post this and then head out to the car show.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!
