Finally, Something Went Well - The Yankees - WHISTLE A HAPPY TUNE - Kenny Howard & David Lee - The Gators

Friday==>Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, your favorite Sunshine State blogger is pleased to report that last night he was able to set up an appointment with Quest Diagnostics for 11:30am this morning and ... tada ...

Everything went well, finally. Yeah, I took the bus down to their office at 324 E. Par Street, just across the line into Orlando, and everything, the bus ride, the paper work, and the blood drawing went well. I had a minimal wait period and that was good, too.

When the appointment was over I opted to walk the 1.8 miles back to the apartment and I have to admit that this wasn’t the smartest of decisions. At noon it was hot, muggy and virtually breezeless ... meaning ... when I got back to the apartment I was drenched in sweat. Oh well ... it is Florida in June, isn’t it?

Moving on ...

Last night I stayed in the cool and comfortable confines of my apartment to watch baseball. The Yankees had the day/night off.

Tonight at 7:05pm the Yankees (33-26)  will play the Orioles (29-30) in Baltimore, in the first game of a 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees will be Michael Pineda (7-2) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (3-3)

The Bronx Bombers now lead the AL East by 2 games over the Rays.

Moving on some more ...

Billi Pod’s entertainment event for tonight is ...

8:00==>WHISTLE A HAPPY TUNE: A SALUTE TO RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN - “Richard Rodgers (1902–1979) and Oscar Hammerstein II (1895–1960) were an influential, innovative and successful American musical theatre writing team, usually referred to as Rodgers and Hammerstein. They created a string of popular Broadway musicals in the 1940s and 1950s, initiating what is considered the "golden age" of musical theatre.” (discounted $18.00 ticket)

This revue will feature songs from Oklahoma, Carousel, State Fair, Allegro, South Pacific, The King and I, Pipe Dream, Cinderella, Me and Juliet, Flower Drum Song, and The Sound of Music.

It is playing at the Breakthrough Theatre at 419 W. Fairbanks Ave. in Winter Park and runs Friday to Monday from June 12th through June 29th.

I will, of course, walk to and from the theater, regardless of the weather.

A lot is happening in the theater scene here in the Orlando area, some of it involving friends that I first met in NYC ...

Kenny Howard will direct THE FLICK at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, from June 19-July 12.

And,

David Lee will star in the one-man show, SEX, DRUGS, ROCK AND ROLL at the Footlight Theatre in Orlando, on July 3rd and 4th.

Of course, Billi Pod will see both shows.

In closing==>The Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes will meet Saturday @ 8:00pm in the opening round of The College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The game will be carried on ESPN.
