I’m Back In My Walk And Wander Mode

Good morning to everyone out there in the hinterlands, boondocks and wastelands.

Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, I am happy to report that I got back into my usual walk and wander mode yesterday doing 4+ miles in the Upper Westside.

Took the subway up to 81st Street and then walked East and West along 81st, 82nd, 83rd and 84th Streets. It was overcast and that was just perfect. It felt great, it really did.

Then ... gasp ... Billi Pod became a total sports couch-potato for the evening, stuck in front of the tube alternating between The Wankies and The Giants.

The Wankies beat the Rays 6-4 on a 2-run throwing error in the top of 7th inning. Our batters struck out an incredible 15 times. This was a game that was given to us, that is for certain, but we will take it.

With the win the Wankies gained a 1-game lead over the Orioles, who lost to the Blue Jays

Tonight at 7:05 the Wankies start a crucial 4-game series against the Orioles in Camden Yards. It will be David Phelps (3-4) on the mound for the Wankies vs. Jason Hammel (8-6) for the Birds.

The other New York team playing last night, The Giants, lost 24-17 to Dallas as their offense basically sucked. Not a good way for the defending Super Bowl Champions to begin the season and the local papers have really been nasty ...

“SUPER DUD - Giants fall flat in first defense of crown” - The Daily News

“STUPOR MEN! - Giants bowled over by ‘Boys in opener” - NY Post

“AFTER PREGAME POMP, A PRATFALL - A stilted running game. A porous offensive line. A battered secondary.” - The New York Times.

Yeah, this is a tough sports town.

Today I have a routine visit to my cardiologist for the usual finger-prick to monitor my coumadin level and then, weather permitting, I intend to do at least a 3-mile walk and wander session in the Upper Eastside.

Then for the evening I will finally get back to the theater with ...

8:00==>US - “A 21st century American love story that explores how we meet, communicate, have sex and fall in love in the age of technology.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show, in early previews, is playing at a theatre on my block.

Nope ... not gonna watch any part of the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout-out to my sister ANN PARKER, who now lives in Palm Springs, CA.

WOW!! Me @ 78 and you @ 75==>who would have thunk it?

Have a great day Sister-of-Mine!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>7.15 miles (or, 15,631 steps)
