Good afternoon my loyal and faithful readers.
Billi Pod is most happy to report that last nite’s NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC concert, led by Christoph von Dohnanyi, was terrific even though it started off with a thankfully short piece of atonal drek (Billi Pod HATES atonal drek) called “Con Brio” by Jorg Widman. It received only mildly tepid applause and that’s being generous.
The rest of the program, however, was outstanding and Yefim Bronfman’s performance of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 was, simply put, AWESOME and well deserving of the standing ovation it received. I left Avery Fisher Hall with a smile on my face.
For this afternoon Billi Pod will watch the Ravens vs. Steelers game at 4:00pm, and then tonight’s entertainment event is --
8:30==>ROOM 17B-“This comedy explores the power struggles, rivalries and one-upmanship in the most chaotic office in New York City. If Buster Keaton and Monty Python did office work, it would look like ROOM 17B.” (discounted TDF ticket).
It sounds like fun, has a running time of only 70 minutes and is playing at the 59th Street Theatre, which, as you know, I like a lot.
Billi Pod will close with a musing most rock music fans will agree with ...
Musings from THE MIND OF BILLI POD (a memoir in progress):
“Hey Billy Joel ...‘Paul is a real estate novelist...’ makes no sense to anyone.”
GO GATORS AND GO YANKEES!!
Billi Pod
“Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.”
