For Goodness Sake/Day of the Dog/Gators/At This Performance

Sunday==>It is a rather gloomy and cold day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, dammit ...

Yes, at noon it is 42º, wind chill down to 36º, with cloudy skies and gusting wind off of the Hudson River.

More snow is in the forecast for Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.

Hey, Weather Gods==>it is Spring so let’s get rid of the snow and cold weather, OK?

Anyway ... let’s move on to Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday’s entertainment doubleheader, beginning with ...

The Musicals Tonight! Off Broadway show ...

FOR GOODNESS SAKE, the 1922 musical that takes place at a weekend party at the Bourne Estate near Maidenhead, England==>B+

Funny, entertaining and very well performed by a talented cast, headed by Brandon Andrus as the Estate owner Perry, Sean Bell as his friend Teddy, and Amber Guest as Perry’s flirtatious fiancé Vivianne.

The Producer/Artistic Director of Musicals Tonight! is Mel Miller, who always shows up with his two dogs, Izzy and Moe. He takes them on stage when he makes his pre-curtain comments.

Before the show I asked him if I could take a picture of him and his dogs and he said yes ... if ... he could take a picture of me and the dogs ... so ... here they/we are ...

Moving on ...

The second part of my doubleheader was an Off Broadway show, about a dog ...

DAY OF THE DOG, about a South Florida couple who obtains the services of a “Canine Relations Specialist” in order to curb the violent behavior of their dog Carrot==>B-

The show was billed as a comedy but it really has a very depressing story line that starts with some laughs but ends up as a yelling and screaming match between the husband and wife, moderated by the Canine Relations Specialist.

Excellent acting from the 3-person cast, Steve Isom, Jason Grubbe and Michelle Hand, saves it from receiving a lower grade.

It is playing at the 59E59 Theater Complex on E. 59th Street, one of my favorite venues, has a running time of 2:10, with intermission and runs through March 30th.

Now, moving on to today ...

I had originally booked a classical music concert at Avery Fisher Hall, but I gave away my ticket because I wanted to see ...

7:00==>AT THIS PERFORMANCE - “Broadway standbys/understudies sing songs from their shows’ current musical hits: After Midnight; Beautiful; Bullets Over Broadway; Kinky Boots, Matilda; Newsies; Rock of Ages; Rocky; Cinderella; and, others. (Off Broadway - full price ticket)

This is another performance by Musicals Tonight! at the Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block. It has a running time of 2:45, with intermission. Tonight is the only performance.

This is always a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to it.

In closing ... sports ... for you Marty ...

As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, The Florida Gators bounced back from their lackluster win over Albany to put a 61-45 pounding on #9 seed Pittsburgh, on an outstanding performance from point-guard Scottie Wilbekin.

Because of a scheduling conflict I could only watch the first half of the game but was able to keep up with it on my iPhone ESPN app.

We now advance to The Sweet Sixteen for the 4th year in a row.

So ...

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.53 miles (or, 7,722 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>272.93 miles (average 3.37 miles per day)

GO GATORS & GO YANKEES!!
