WELCOME BACK FORBIDDEN BROADWAY!!

HAPPY HUMP DAY to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers.

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s entertainment event ...

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: ALIVE AND KICKING, the return of Gerard Alessandrini’s satirical review==>A.

After a 3-year hiatus this eagerly awaited musical review was funny, profane, irreverent and extremely well performed by its 4-person cast, who portrayed dozens of characters with numerous virtually instantaneous costume changes.

Most of the new Broadway shows and some of the long-running ones were skewered by Alessandrini’s rapier-like wit.  For me the funniest skit was the one that featured Matt Parker and Trey Stone, the creators of the mega-hit musical The Book of Mormon. Yep, it was a satire of a religious satire musical.

This was the first preview performance and the Off Broadway house was sold out. Each individual skit received a roaring round of applause.

So ... welcome back FORBIDDEN BROADWAY ... we theater-nuts sorely missed you and you can be certain that we will visit you again in the not-too-distant future.

Billi Pod says to his theater buddies in The Tri-State area==>see this show ASAP!!

Billi Pod was really in a happy mood when he left the theater and came back to PHC to settle in to watch game 2 of the YANKEE/SEATTLE series, which started at 10:10pm ... but ...

Bummer==>In the 8th inning A-Rod was hit by a pitch from Felix Hernandez aka King Felix that broke his left hand. A-Rod will be on the DL for 6-8 weeks. Bummer!!

The Yankees lost 4-2 because they again failed to get hits with runners in scoring position. Bummer!!!

The final game of the series is this afternoon at 3:40pm with Ivan Nova (10-4) on the mound for The Yankees vs. Hasashi Iwakuma (1-2) for The Mariners.

Bummer==>Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia and now Alex Rodriguez<==Bummer!!

Oh well ... moving on ...

Today is going to be a very interesting doubleheader for Billi Pod, starting with ...

2:00==>OLD JEWS TELLING JOKES - “Five actors pay tribute to and reinvent classic jokes of the past and present. Think you've heard them all before? Not this way. The show also features comic songs new and old as well as tributes to some of the giants of the comedy world.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF  ticket)

All of my theater buddies who have seen this show have enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to seeing it. It is playing at a theatre in my immediate ‘hood.

Will, of course, watch the Yankee game when I get back to PHC after the show.

Then it will be (and, yes, that is the correct starting time) ...

9:00==>DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD - “Oh, good grief! The Peanuts gang has grown up, and it turns out that life is not a comic strip after all. Ten years removed from childhood, Charlie Brown, Pigpen, Lucy and the others are grappling with the issues of teens today. They include a stoner, a homophobe, an arsonist, a Goth performance artist, a couple of slutty, booze-swilling clique leaders and an outcast who finds happiness only at a keyboard.” (Off Broadway - discounted ticket)

I saw this show several years ago and remembered that I liked it a lot. I will be seeing it with my theater-buddy Marty Kosarik and it is also playing at a theatre in my immediate ‘hood.

Well, my loyal and faithful readers, it is a beautiful morning here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, so I will post this and then do a bit of walking and wandering.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.71 miles

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
