I will start off my daily report to you loyal and faithful readers out there in the vastness of cyberspace with Billi Pod’s report card on ...
SUMMER SHORTS 5 - Series A==>A<==the 4 one-act plays were interesting and diverse. Acting in each was excellent.
The most thought-provoking and funny was the last one called “The New Testament,” written by Neil LaBute, about a meeting between the playwright, the producer, and an asian actor who the playwright believes has been accidentally miscast in the role of Jesus.
I am looking forward to seeing Series B later in the month.
When the show was over I decided to walk back to PHC, a distance of just over 2 miles, while listening to the YANKEES/FUCKSOX game on my trusty Walkman.
Man, the Midtown area was teeming with hordes of tourists and Billi Pod couldn’t escape them.
What he also wishes he could escape is the memory of the game because ...
Yes, as you loyal and faithful reader know, we got our butts kicked at Fenway, losing to the FUCKSOX 10-4. CC just didn’t have it. It hurts ... it hurts bad.
Yep, we are now 2-9 this season against The FuckSox. Barf!!
After the game Billi Pod wasn’t in the mood to go out, especially since he was alternating between sucking his thumb and giving The Baseball Gods the finger. What did he do, you are no doubt breathlessly asking? Well ...
He watched “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” starring Will Ferrell, on Comedy Central. Yeah ... I know ... but for some reason I had never seen this and I really like Will Ferrell, so ... this is what Billi Pod did.
I guess most everyone out there has seen the movie, but if you haven’t and need a gut-busting fun time==>see it<==a mix of satire, clever gags, and excellent ensemble performances.
Billi Pod's entertainment schedule for today is ...
3:00==>CHAOTICALLY COMPLETE COLLABORATION FESTIVAL - “8 ten minutes plays presented with only 48 hours of preparation - watch the madness unfold.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)
This is playing at a theater on my block. Sounds like fun.
Then tonight Billi Pod will stay in to watch ...
8:00==>YANKEES/FUCKSOX on ESPN with Freddy Garcia vs. Josh Beckett. Since it is an ESPN game it will last forever and ever. And, Yankee/FuckSox games routinely take forever, too.
Come on Yankees - man up! We really need this game.
In closing==>my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the brave troops who lost their lives yesterday when their helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan. This is a reminder, if we needed one, that brave young men and women put their lives in harms way day-after-day in a mission to preserve and protect our country.
But, don’t we have to ask ourselves and those in power who make the decisions==>are we truly better off? Are we really any safer and secure? Is it worth the continued loss of lives over there? Is it?
I ask - you decide.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
