Updates==>Heathers/Under My Skin/Opening Day/Fishing for Wives

Tuesday==>Sorry for missing yesterday’s posting and for being late in today’s posting.

Yesterday your favorite blogger was out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built, for Opening Day and I didn’t get back to the warm and cozy confines of PHC until almost 6:00pm and then I wasn’t in the mood to spend time in front of this ‘puter.

Today, Tuesday, I had a 10:30am routine appointment with my eye doctor. Everything went well but both eyes were majorly dilated, so much so that at 3:00pm everything is still very hazy and blurry.

But ... I know I have a responsibility to you loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the boondocks, wilderness and wastelands ... so ... will do my best to bring you up-to-date, hopefully without too many errors or miscues ... so ...

Let’s turn back the clock for Billi Pod’s report cards on Sunday’s entertainment doubleheader ... starting with ...

HEATHERS, the musical about an unhappy teenager, Veronica, and her rebellious new boyfriend, J.D., who team up to rid their school of its most popular, cruelest and toxic students, The Heathers==>A

This was a totally enjoyable show and it is extremely well-acted by a young cast, headed by Barrett Wilbert Weed as Veronica and Ryan McCartan as her murderous boyfriend J.D.

I had not seen the movie so it was all “new” to me. It is rude, profane, vulgar and very much in-your-face funny.

The line that got the biggest laugh was spoken by one of the Heathers: “Fuck me gently with a chain saw.”

If you are in the mood for something funny and profane, then this is the show for you, if not ... then stay far far away.

It has just opened to basically favorable reviews, especially from the New York Times, is playing at The New World Stages on West 50th Street, has a running time of 2:15, with intermission, and runs through September 7th.

The second entertainment event was another Off Broadway show ...

UNDER MY SKIN, when New York's most eligible bachelor and a single working mother switch bodies they experience each other's lives and see things from a very different perspective==>B

Well acted, funny and thought-provoking. The story line is, however, kinda predictable.

It is still worth seeing although it may not be good enough to overcome The Little Shubert “Curse.”

It has just started previews, opens on May 15th, is playing at The Little Shubert Theatre on West 42nd Street, right next door to my apartment, has a running time of 1:45, with intermission, and runs through July 6th.

I will close Sunday’s update with some pretty awesome walking stats ...

Sunday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.03 miles (or, 8,819 steps)

Total mileage for the week==>33.62 miles (average 4.80 miles per day)

Yeah, that’s right ... a weekly average of almost 5-miles per day. Not bad, not bad at all.

Now ... moving on to Billi Pod’s report on Monday’s entertainment event ...

YANKEES/ORIOLES - Opening Day @ 1:05pm out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed and Ego Built.

This was, of course, Derek Jeter’s final Yankee Stadium Opening Day of his illustrious career. The most emotional scene was when Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera threw the ceremonial first pitch(es) to Jeter and Jorge Posada. Yes, The Core Four were on the field again, together.

As you sports fans know, The Yankees won 4-2 behind excellent pitching from Hiroki Kuroda and the bullpen.

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting I have to share that it was really cold and windy and I was pretty uncomfortable for most of the game even though I had dressed warmly and appropriately. Oh well ...

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

7:30==>FISHING FOR WIVES - “It’s 1913 and two Hawaiian fishermen realize they have women problems. Lonely and bored with catching fish, Nishi sends for a picture bride from Japan, but sneaks a photo of his handsome friend Aoki in his place. The bride arrives and falls in love - with the wrong man - setting off a comic battle of the sexes.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show is still in previews, is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of 1:30, with intermission, and runs through April 27th.

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, my vision is still very blurry and this has become uncomfortable, so will post it now. Please forgive me for being late and please overlook any errors ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.76  miles (or, 8,216 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>335.86 miles (average 3.47 miles per day)

GO YANKEES!!
