Billi Pod Has A Mini-Adventure

Good afternoon my loyal and faithful readers. Billi Pod has just gotten back from a mini-adventure involving a trip out to Yankee Stadium to exchange another ticket.

What you are no doubt breathlessly asking. Well, as those of you who have known Billi Pod for years know that one of the things yet unfullfilled on his “Big Apple To-Do List” is to walk from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx back to PHC on West 42nd Street, following an afternoon game.

One of the reasons it has been postponed over the years has been uncertainty over the correct route to take from the stadium back into Harlem and then from Harlem south to Midtown. The distance is approximately 6.5 miles, or a little over 2 hours in walking time.

When I got to the stadium this afternoon I was able to quickly exchange my ticket. The weather was awesome, just a bit breezy but perfect for walking.

Billi Pod had already done a bit of research so he had an idea of what he wanted to do. No, it was not in his plan to walk all the way back today, rather==> just to check out a proposed route, and, frankly, to see if he felt safe in this area of Harlem.

So, to make a long and interesting story brief (hold your applause) he walked from the stadium west to the Macombs Bridge, over it and into Harlem @ 155th Street. Once he got into Harlem he then walked south on Frederick Douglass Blvd/8th Avenue down to 145th Street, a total distance from Yankee Stadium of approximately 1.5 miles.

At 145 Street Billi Pod then took the A train back to 42nd Street.

I am happy to report that I had no feelings of unease in this area of Harlem, meaning Billi Pod will definately put this on his agenda for later, probably after either the 1:05pm Cleveland game on Saturday, June 11th, or the 2:05pm Colorado game on Sunday, June 26th, weather permitting, of course.

Actually, I could have walked all the way back today but that just wasn’t in my plans.

Anyway, now on to other things, like ...

Report card on last nite’s WAR HORSE==>AA<==as in Amazingly Awesome!!

The puppetry in creating life-sized horses was breath-taking, it really was.

I have to admit that some of the battlefront scenes made me very uneasy, due, frankly, to the recent situation with Alex’s upcoming deployment overseas , but ...

Folks, this is a “must-see.” Yeah, Billi Pod says==>it’s gonna win the Tony for Best Play. Count on it!!

Tonight's entertainment event is yet another drama ...

8:00==>THE NORMAL HEART - “The critically acclaimed revival of Larry Kramer’s drama, set in the 1980s, about sexual politics during the AIDS crisis in NYC.” (Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

I was fortunate to have seen the original production way back when and remember being very emotionally involved with the characters. All of my theater-going buddies who have seen this version have been unanimous in their favorable reviews.

Looking forward to it.

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
