Billi Pod Says==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC Concert Was Terrific!!

It is sunny and still chilly this morning in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World - 48º @ 8:30am.

Last night’s NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC concert was excellent, despite yet another atonal work by Sofia Gubaidulina, this time for two violas. She wrote the piece of dreck that Anne-Sophie Mutter performed on April 1. Mega-tired of her.

The rest of the concert was terrific, ending with a beautiful performance of Brahms Symphony No. 1. I left the concert hall with a smile on my face. It was just what Billi Pod needed.

The concert was over around 9:45pm and I decided to walk back to PHC, a distance of 20 north/south blocks, equaling 1 mile.

Two reasons for this decision: (1) the weather was nice (comparatively speaking); and (2) The Yankees were in a nail-biter with The Orioles. I listened to the game on my trusty, but now aging, Walkman.

The Yankees had overcome a 5-run deficit and ended up winning the game in the bottom of the 10th inning, just as I arrived at PHC. Nice! The win put The Yankees in first place in the AL East.

Downside for the game==>Phil Hughes had yet another miserable outing. This is the source of extreme concern for Yankee management and there is talk about sending him down to the minor leagues to work on rebuilding his "velocity." We will see ...

This leads to tonight’s entertainment event ...

7:05==>YANKEES vs. RANGERS with Ivan Nova on the mound. The weather forecast is for brisk breezes but no rain. Please God let the forecast be correct.

Interestingly, Billi Pod has nothing scheduled yet for Saturday. What? Yes, that’s right. I know that I will stay in during the afternoon and watch the YANKEES/RANGERS game. Have many options, of course, for the evening’s entertainment, so you have nothing to fear my loyal and faithful readers, Billi Pod will be out and about on Saturday night, you can bet on it.

BREAKING NEWS==>We have another major hit on Broadway with last night’s opening of WAR HORSE @ Lincoln Center. The show is about a boy and his horse (awesome equine puppets) trying to survive in World War I.

It received almost unanimous rave reviews and its limited run has just been extended into October.

Everyone I have talked with who has seen the show absolutely loved it. I was lucky to score a ticket for Thursday, May 5th.
