SEVENTH ANNUAL BROADWAY BEAUTY PAGEANT==>A+

Tuesday==>Boy, was yesterday an emotionally draining day/evening. As you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, the day began with my semi-annual finger-up-the-butt exam with my urologist (with good results). It was followed by some major walking and ended with an incredible evening’s entertainment event ... so ... let’s get to the details of the entertainment event, which was ...

SEVENTH ANNUAL BROADWAY BEAUTY PAGEANT, the contest between male performers from current Broadway shows==>A+

Folks, this was a totally enjoyable experience even though my comp. seat was in the upper nosebleed section of the Skirball Center for The Performing Arts, in the NYU Complex down in The West Village. The house was full with a highly involved audience.

The event was emceed by entertainment legend Tovah Feldshuh and the celebrity judges were Andrea Martin (Pippin), Michael Urie (Buyer and Cellar), and Billy Porter (Kinky Boots). Tovah did a remarkable job. She is so funny and talented.

The contest was divided into three segments: performance, interview and swimsuit. When it was over the audience filled out paper ballets to select the winner.

As you know from yesterday’s posting, one of the contestants was Yurel Echezaretta, a former Lakeland, FL, resident, who is presently in the cast of Matilda. He did a terrific job ... but ... unfortunately, he didn’t win.

The winner was Orion Griffiths from Pippin. Billi Pod has no quarrel with that decision.

Before the show I met up with my theater-buddies Dian Crystal aka My Lady and Kim (who, in-so-far as I know, has no last name and may be in The Witness Protection Program). They also totally enjoyed the show. When it was over we found a pizza place where Dian and I had a slice.

Thought about walking back to the apartment but I was already at the 8+ mile mark for the day and my body told me that was enough, so I opted to subway back.

On the way to the subway station we passed the site of the senseless hate-crime killing of Mark Carson, Saturday, by a man spewing homophobic slurs. It is a very emotional scene. Dian took this picture

There is nothing more I can add to this.

By the time I got back to PHC I was totally emotionally drained. What a day!!

Moving on to today ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is a concert ...

8:00==>CRESCENT SUPERBAND @ Carnegie Hall - “A talented group of teenagers play smoking jazz and Swing Era standards, plus some new stuff, too.” (concert - $9.00 TDF ticket)

According to the press blurb: “One of the hottest big bands in the world just happens to be made up of teens from Utah.”

They will be joined by the Voodoo Orchestra and La Onda Caribeña.

Yeah ... it sounds like a fun evening.

So ... let’s move on ...

Now ... for my friend Marty aka Numnutz ... some sports ...

Last night the Bronx Bombers beat The Orioles in Camden Yards in dramatic fashion, tying the score in the top of the 9th and then winning 6-4 in 10-innings.

The only downside to this nail biter was yet another mediocre outing from our titular ace CC Sabathia.

Tonight @ 7:05pm will be game 2 of the 3-game series with Phil Hughes (2-3) on the mound for The Bombers vs. Miguel Gonzalez (2-2) for The Birds. Phil’s last outing was a total disaster when he failed to make it out of the first inning.

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, your favorite blogger feels the overwhelming urge to post this and then head out for a major walk and wander session in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. The weather is awesome==>84º @ 1:00pm.

Oh ... speaking of awesome ... I think that yesterday’s mileage was pretty awesome ... what do you think?

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>8.77 miles (or, 19,170 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,514.07 miles

GO YANKEES!!
