MIKE, JOY AND KATE==>Great Being With You!!

Sunday==>Had a great time last night with my longtime friend attorney/author Mike Martin of Lakeland, Fl, his wife, Joy, and their recently U. of Fla. graduated daughter, Kate. They are in the Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, because on Tuesday Kate is beginning an 8-week fashion-industry internship. She will be staying at one of the NYU properties in the Union Square area.

We first met up at one of my favorite restaurants, Joe Allen, on Restaurant Row on West 46th Street, where we had great food, lots of catching up and, of course, plenty of reminiscing.

Mike and I have known each other for over 40 years. He is a very successful trial attorney who primarily litigates Environmental and Agricultural cases.

And, as I mentioned in yesterday’s posting, he is also a writer. His most recent novel is a totally enjoyable and well-reviewed legal thriller called “The Crestfallen Rose” which can be purchased through Amazon at:

It is definitely worth reading, trust your favorite blogger on this ... it is.

When we finished dinner we then walked over to 420 W. 42nd Street so I could show them the outstanding views of Hell's Kitchen from my apartment, PHC, on the 41st floor.

So ... Mike, Joy and Kate ... it was great being with you ... and ... Kate==>good luck with your internship and getting to know the inner workings of this great city. You have my contact info ... so ...

Now ... moving on to Billi Pod’s report card on yesterday’s Broadway show, the matinee performance of ...

ANN, the one-woman tribute to Ann Richards the former Governor of Texas, written and performed by Holland Taylor==B+

Holland Taylor gives an amazing performance as the freethinking, sarcastic, divorced, formerly alcoholic, female politician, set in characteristically conservative Texas.

The sets and staging are pretty amazing, too.

My gut feeling is that the show would be even better done without intermission but that might be a problem since the audience for my matinee performance was 85% silver-haired ladies in their 70s and 80s.

Anyway ... I am glad that I finally got to see it. It runs through September lst.

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

7:15==>BULL - “An allegorical deathmatch between business colleagues, rumple-faced sad sack Thomas, sharky Tony and snarky Isobel. The three characters must compete for two jobs that will remain after the downsizing of their company. The office becomes a corporate wrestling ring, complete with water cooler, with the audience sitting or standing around the four sides.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This mostly well-reviewed show is playing at the 59th Street Theater Complex, one of Billi Pod’s favorite venues, and runs through June 1st.

Now, my loyal and faithful readers and followers it is time to give my FB friend Marty aka Numnutz his sports fix ... so ...

Last night the Yankees won a nail biter from the Rays, 4-3, in 11 innings at that disgrace known as Tropicana Field. We tied the score in the top of the 9th and then won it in the 11th on a home run from Lyle Overbay.

This afternoon we will go for the sweep. It will be our ace CC Sabathia (4-3) vs. Alex Cobb (5-2) for the Rays. CC hasn’t been CC in his last 4 starts, failing to make it through 7-innings in any of them.

Spoiler Alert==>To my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... I think it is only fair for your favorite blogger to reveal to you, in advance, that most of the upcoming evenings are probably going to be spent in front of the TV watching baseball.

Now ... calm down and hear me out ... this is the Yankees upcoming schedule ...

Tuesday - 7:10pm==>Mets @ Citifield

Then ...

Friday - 7:05pm==>Boston FuckSox @ Yankee Stadium

I mean ... come on folks ... I’m a Yankee fan ... a subway series against the Mets and then the FuckSox? How can I not stay in to watch those games? How?

So ... in the name of fair and unbiased reporting ... you are hereby alerted.

On that happy note ... will post this and get ready to watch the Yankee game.

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND EVERYONE.
