Saturday==>Yesterday was basically a nasty weather-day and the forecast for today isn’t any better and, man, where did summer go? I mean ... it was 46º at 8:30am here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. Oh well ... ain’t ‘nuttin Billi Pod can do about it ... except bitch and moan ...
So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers, let’s move on to Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway show ...
GORILLA, about five businessmen at a team building program lead by the female head of Human Resources==>B-
There is decent acting but a rather predictable story line, with mostly stereotypical characters: the recovering alcoholic; the closeted gay; the guy whose marriage is crumbling; the passive-aggressive nerd; the guy in a clandestine affair; and, the overbearing female executive with a secret.
The running time is 90 minutes, without intermission. It is playing at the Theatre Row Complex and runs through June 16th.
Today’s entertainment event is a Broadway show ...
2:00==>ANN - “A one-woman tribute to Ann Richards the former Governor of Texas, written and performed by Holland Taylor.” (Broadway - complimentary ticket)
This show is playing at the Vivian Beaumont Theater @ Lincoln Center and has a running time of 2-hours, with one intermission.
The show has received basically favorable reviews, based largely on Taylor’s performance. I am glad I was finally able to score a comp. ticket.
Then for the evening ...
At 8:00pm I will meet up with attorney/author Michael Martin of Lakeland, FL, his wife, Joy, and daughter, Kate, for dinner at Joe Allen on Restaurant Row on West 46th Street.
They are in town because Kate, a recent University of Florida graduate, is beginning an 8-week fashion-industry internship.
Mike wrote the well-reviewed “The Crestfallen Rose” that is now available on Amazon.com
This is a page-turning legal thriller and it is also very very educational. Check it out.
OK ... moving on for some sports ... for you Marty ...
Well, last night the Bronx Bombers beat Tampa 9-4 down at that disgrace known as Tropicana Field, but it was a mixed blessing because the recently returned Curtis Granderson had to leave the game when he was hit by a pitch that fractured a knuckle on his left hand.
As many of you loyal and faithful readers and followers know, Grandy missed all of Spring Training and the beginning of the season due to a fractured right forearm. He had been back for only 7-games. Damn!!
Granderson will be placed on the DL today.
And another scare ... in the bottom of the 8th inning starting pitcher David Phelps was hit on the right forearm by a screaming line drive off the bat of Ben Zobrist. Phelps had to leave the game but, thankfully, he should be OK for his next start.
This afternoon @ 4:10pm it will be Vidal Nuno (1-1) on the mound for The Bronx Bombers vs. Matt Moore (8-0) for The Rays.
In closing ... due to the barfy weather yesterday Billi Pod’s mileage was one of the lowest for the past 10+ months.
Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.11 miles (or, 2,442 steps)
Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,531.55 miles
GO YANKEES!!
Billi Pod
