More Snow/MALPRACTICE MAKES PERFECT/THE CORRESPONDENT

Saturday==>Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, it looks like today is going to be one of those “more-of-the-same” days weather-wise because the forecast is for more snow here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, beginning in the afternoon and then into the evening.

For the first time in a while the temperature is above the freezing mark and that means that the snow will turn into slush making the sidewalks, crosswalks and intersections mega-dangerous.

Man, when it is gonna end? Billi Pod has had more than enough ...

Anyway ... moving on to ...

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway show at The York Theater ...

The Musicals In Mufti performance of Sheldon Harnick’s new work-in-progress musical comedy, MALPRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, about a woodcutter who is manipulated by his spiteful wife to impersonate a brilliant doctor==>A

This musical is based on Moliere’s “Le Medecin Malgri,” with book, music and lyrics by the soon-to-be 90 Harnick.

The fake doctor is called upon to cure the daughter of a rich man. She is feigning illness (unable to speak coherently) in order to avoid marrying the man her father has chosen for her.

Folks, the show is very funny and highly entertaining with a stellar cast, lead by Brad Oscar at the “doctor.” His comedic-timing is impeccable. Christina Bianco is excellent in the role of the daughter, Lucinda.

The music and lyrics are excellent.

At curtain call Harnick joined the cast to receive a roaring ovation. It is frankly amazing to me that he is still able to write interesting material at his age.

Once again James Morgan and his staff put together a highly professional product with less than a week of rehearsal time.

Billi Pod says==>see this show if you possibly can.

The show is playing at The York Theatre @ The Citigroup Center on East 54th Street, has a running time of 2:00, with intermission, and has remaining performance dates of today @ 2:30pm & 8:00pm; and, Sunday @ 2:30pm & 7:30pm.

Now ... what about today I know you are all asking your inner selves. Well, inner selves ... this is what your favorite blogger has scheduled ...

3:00==>THE CORRESPONDENT - “A grieving husband hires a dying woman to deliver a message to his recently deceased wife in the afterlife. When he receives letters describing events that only his wife could know, he must determine if the correspondence is from a con artist or if his wife has returned from the grave.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show recently opened to very mixed reviews, so I have some serious misgivings about it.

It is playing at The Rattlestick Playwrights Theater on Waverly Place in the West Village and runs through March 16th. I have been unable to dredge up the running time.

Damn ... it is 11:00am as I am working on this posting and it has already begun to snow. Damn!

At the moment I haven’t anything scheduled for the evening. A lot will depend on the weather. Your favorite blogger is gonna be in a “wait-and-see” mode.

Anyway ... have a great weekend everyone ... and ...

STAY WARM!!
