Carnegie Hall/Jimmy Fallon/Intimacy

Tuesday==>Your favorite blogger isn't gonna bore you loyal and faithful readers and followers with yet another weather report ... suffice it to say that it is just more of the same up here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

Yes, there's still a lot of accumulated snow everywhere.

So ... let’s get started with something more positive and that will be Billi Pod’s report on last night’s classical music concert at Carnegie Hall ...

DISTINGUISHED CONCERTS ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS - “A Celebration of Shawnee Press.”

This was a totally enjoyable evening’s entertainment. The orchestra was joined by choral groups from around the country, High School, College, Church, etc. There were 4 guest conductors.

The program was a mixture of classical pieces, contemporary numbers and religious anthems, each extremely well-performed.

In the second half of the program the groups on stage comprised the largest chorus that I can ever remember seeing (that is the picture I took). The sound was awesome and you could feel the excitement flowing from the stage.

My comp. seat was excellent, in the first tier, box 5.

Yes, I left Carnegie Hall with a smile on my face.

And, speaking of smiles ... last night’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” at midnight on NBC put a smile on my face, too.

I thought that Jimmy did an excellent job. Yes, he appeared to be a bit nervous at the very beginning of the show ... but ... come on, folks ... who wouldn’t have been?

He got the evening started with:

“Welcome to ‘The Tonight Show,’ the first to be broadcast from New York in over 40 years. I’m Jimmy Fallon and I’ll be your host ... for now.”

and this got a huge roar from the audience.

He told the audience that an unnamed friend had bet him he’d never host “Tonight” and now that friend owed him a $100. Then ...

One beat later out came a stream of celebrities, including: Robert De Niro, Joe Namath, Rudy Giuliani, Mariah Carey, Tracy Morgan, Joan Rivers, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tiny Fey, Kim Kardashain, Lindsay Lohan, Mike Tyson and Lady Gaga, each handing him a $100 bill to make good on their losing bet.

The last celebrity was Stephen Colbert, who brought his $100 in a bucket of pennies.

He dumped them all over Fallon, posed for a selfie and said: “Welcome to 11:30, bitch.” The audience roared. Colbert's show is also on at 11:30pm, on Comedy Central.

The rest of the evening moved along well, including his first guest, Will Smith, and his first musical guest U2.

Despite all of the big name guests, the real star of the evening was New York City, IMHO.

The nice thing ... the show will only get better as he settles in and becomes more comfortable.

The local news media has been very favorable with their reviews.

Billi Pod says==>live long and prosper, Jimmy.

Moving on to tonight’s entertainment event, an Off Broadway show ...

7:00==>INTIMACY - “A surprising journey with three families in a well-manicured, multi-racial American town. When secrets and sexual desires suddenly explode during the filming of a porn movie, pleasant neighborly relations take some shocking and transformative turns.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show has opened to very mixed reviews, due largely to its sexual explicitness, including full-frontal nudity, graphic sexual scenes, visible erections and “simulated” ejaculations that spew into the first row of the theater.

Yeah, sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

It is playing at the Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of 2:30, with intermission, and runs through March 8th.

OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, I need to make my weekly run to the Food Emporium ... so ...

STAY WARM!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.36 miles (or, 7,352 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>144.89 miles (average 3.02 miles per day)
