WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT==>A

Thursday-BREAKING NEWS==>To everyone who believes that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie aka BlubberBoi had no knowledge of the plan(s) to close down lanes on the George Washington Bridge in order to cause his political enemy, the Mayor of Fort Lee, problems ... Billi Pod has just been given the rights to sell shares of that very bridge ... yes ... that’s correct ... would your favorite blogger lie to his loyal and faithful readers and followers? No ... of course not ... so ... just send me:

1. your full name
2. your Social Security Number
3. your Mother’s maiden name
4. your last two tax returns
4. your last two bank statements, and
5. two blank checks

and I’ll get back with you as soon as I can after I complete your background check. Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. It will be first come, first served.

Moving on ...

I’m tired of writing about the cold weather here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World ... so ... let’s get right to the important stuff ... like Billi Pod’s report card on his return visit to the hit Off Broadway show ...

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT? BACHARACH REIMAGINED, twenty-five-year-old musician and actor Kyle Riabko performs his unique, soulful arrangements of the Bacharach songbook backed by an eclectic group of young singers and dancers==>A

This is the same grade I gave it when I first saw it back on December 14, 2013. And ... like the first time, my seat was on stage and that was perfecto.

This  totally enjoyable evening starts with Riabko explaining the origin(s) of the musical, including his meeting with, and approval from, Bacharach himself. Then the multitalented group begins its journey through the Bacharach catalog with their modernistic arrangements and variations. Loved it.

The most personalized song happens to be Bacharach’s favorite, “Alfie.”

The house was full and when the show was over the performers received a well-deserved roaring standing ovation.

The only downside of the evening ... unlike the first time I saw it ... when the show was over the performers didn’t gather across the street from the theater to sing “Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head.” I guess it was the frigid Arctic weather.

To my Tri-State theater buddies==>if you haven’t seen this show yet, get thee to the New York Theater Workshop on East 4th Street in The East Village ASAP because the show closes on February 2nd.

Moving on ...

Today @ 6:00pm I will meet up with my friends Marty Kosarik aka Whatever and Dian Crystal aka My Lady for an early dinner at our favorite Ethiopian restaurant, Meske, on West 47th Street in my ‘hood.

It has been a while since we have eaten at Meske. We also have a lot of catching-up to do.

Then we will see the hit Off Broadway musical ...

8:00==>NATASHA, PIERRE, AND THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 - “A wickedly sharp theatrical event about the elegance and allure of Tsarist Russia, when lovers spoke by letter and the night sky was set ablaze by The Great Comet of 1812.” (Off Broadway - discounted ticket)

This extremely well-reviewed musical initially opened downtown and immediately sold-out. It subsequently moved to a larger space, under a tent, in Midtown, on West 45th Street. It has a running time of 2:30, with intermission, and runs through February 2nd.

Will close this posting with the final 8 pieces from PIECES OF ADVICE FROM AN OLD FARMER:

21. Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

22. The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every morning.

23. Always drink upstream from the herd.

24. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

25. Letting the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.

26. If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

27. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

28. Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.

Hummmmmm ... #28 looks kinda familiar to Billi Pod. I wonder why?

I actually used that phrase for the first time at the end of the Monday, August 2, 2010, posting.

Again ... major thanks to Jennie Humphrey from sharing this with me.

Even though it was bitterly cold yesterday, it was Billi Pod's best walking day thus far in 2014 ...

STAY WARM EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.12 miles (or, 6,834 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>14.81 miles (average 1.85 miles per day)
