NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC==>WONDERFUL!!

Wednesday==>It is a partly cloudy day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World but the temperature is bearable - 46º at noon, with a light breeze. Yeah ... I’ll take this.

So ... let’s get started with Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s terrific concert ...

NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC @ Avery Fisher Hall, featuring:

Beethoven - Fidelio Overture;
Beethoven - Symphony No. 1;
Shostakovich - Violin Concerto No. 1 (featuring Lisa Batiashvili); and
Gershwin - “An American in Paris”

Report card==>WONDERFUL, as usual.

I was taken, of course, by the diversity of the programming, which has become the norm during Alan Gilbert’s tenure at Conductor.

Yes, this was just what your favorite blogger needed/wanted and he left Lincoln Center with a happy smile on his face.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

8:00==>THE PORTRAIT - “A struggling theater director inherits a portrait of an ancestor in this Jewish-family comedy that explores who should ultimately be permitted to buy the portrait.” (Off Broadway - $9.00 TDF ticket)

This show opens tonight at Theatre 54 on West 54th Street, has a running time of 1:15, without intermission, and runs through January 26th.

I have seen several productions at this venue and they have all been well-written and well-performed.

Will close today’s posting with a comment on the ongoing A-Rod doping scandal ...

Prediction==>When all of A-Rod’s pending state and federal lawsuits against everyone are summarily dismissed, he will then file a major legal malpractice lawsuit against his current legal team, alleging, among other things, that he wanted to strike a deal with MLB but his lawyers advised him against it.

Just remember where is you read it first. You are welcome.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.53 miles (or, 5,546 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>32.02 miles (average 2.29 miles per day)
