Report Card on THE PORTRAIT & Great Fallon/Springsteen Duet

Thursday==>OK, my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace, we will get today’s posting started without the usual boring and uninteresting weather report from The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. Yes ... we will start with ...

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway show ...

THE PORTRAIT, a Jewish-family comedy about a struggling theater director who inherits a portrait of an ancestor and who should ultimately be permitted to buy the portrait==>B+

The show takes place in a Park Avenue Upper Eastside apartment in 1982. It is performed in a very small space and the cast and crew do an excellent job in transforming it into, first, a sitting room, complete with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, and then a dining room, with table settings and real food.

The cast is excellent and the story line is pretty funny with an underlying theme of ... tada ... “rich-people are basically assholes.” Hummmm ... where have I seen/heard that recently, I wonder?

This was the official opening night and the space was crammed. There were a couple of line-glitches but they didn’t distract too much.

Billi Pod says==>it is worth seeing.

It is playing at Theatre 54 on West 54th Street, has a running time of 1:15, without intermission, and runs through January 26th.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is another Off Broadway show ...

7:30==>ROW AFTER ROW - “When two hard core Civil War re-enactors show up for their annual Gettysburg beer and find a pretty stranger at their table, old allegiances come into question. Straddling 1863 and today the show is a dark comedy about choosing your cause and finding your courage.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

Well, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, there is that dreaded phrase “dark comedy” which usually means it is gonna be a lot more dark than funny. We will see.

It is playing at Stage 2 at the New York City Center on West 55th Street, has a running time of 1:30, without intermission, and runs through February 16th

In closing ... if you haven’t seen this duet by Jimmy Fallon and Bruce Springsteen regarding the Chris Christie scandal ... then take a minute and do it ... it’s really really funny. Just click on the link below ...

Yesterday was a decent walking day, too ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.02 miles (or, 8,791 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>36.04 miles (average 2.40 miles per day)
