SUNDAY==>FOOTBALL & DINNER WITH FRIENDS

Sunday==>Today is gonna be football, AFC and NFC Championship games, and dinner with friends, so ... let’s get this posting started with ...

First, the weather in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World==>@ 11:30am it is overcast and 31º, wind chill 22º. Burrrrrr!!

Next, Billi Pod’s report cards on yesterday’s entertainment doubleheader ... first ...

MUSICALS IN MUFTI: Sheldon Harnick’s A World to Win, a sampling of Sheldon Harnick’s wide-ranging career as a musical theatre writer==>A

The program was extremely well-performed by the 4-person cast, Kerry Conte, Jason Graae, Rhyn McLemore and Aaron Serotsky, who performed songs from shows Harnick had been involved with during his career as a writer/composer, which spanned decades. His best known works are “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Fiorello.”

The two hour, with intermission, program was very informative. When it was over, Harnick, who is in his 90s, joined the cast on stage for the curtain-call, which resulted in a roaring standing ovation.

Once again Artistic Director James Morgan and his terrific staff did an outstanding job.

It is playing at The York Theatre @ The Citigroup Center on East 54th Street and has remaining performances dates of Sunday @ 2:30pm & 7:30pm

When the show was over I came back to the warm and cozy confines of PHC for the usual fruit and cheese plate and then it was time for my second entertainment event, another Off Broadway show ...

COLUMBIA: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF ROSPO D. ORO, about Rospo’s wild ride down his self destructive path in pursuit of faster vehicles in order to chase his destiny and outrun his past==>B

Your favorite blogger has very mixed feelings about this show. The positive is the extremely talented cast, headed by Alex Parrish as the hyperactive and obsessed-with-flying Rospo.

The story line itself is very puzzling and at times very difficult to follow.

The major negative is the length, which was posted as 1:40, without intermission. Well, it was longer than that ... at curtain call I checked the time and it was 10:10pm, meaning the show had run 2 hours, without intermission.

That is way-too-long and the show needs major trimming.

Billi Pod says==>???

This show is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block and runs through January 25th.

Moving on to today ...

Well, as I mentioned at the beginning of this posting ... today is gonna be football and dinner with friends.

The football will be the AFC Championship game, Patriots @ Broncos (go Broncos) @ 3:00pm and then the NFC Championship game, 49ers @ Seahawks (go Seahawks) @ 6:30pm.

In the late afternoon my dear friends Dian Crystal aka My Lady and Marty Kosarik aka Whatever, will come over to PHC and then we will head out for an early dinner at a secret location selected by Marty. Should be lots of fun.

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>3.07 miles (or, 6,719 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>45.39 miles (average 2.52 miles per day)

GO BRONCOS AND SEAHAWKS!!
