THE EAGLES==>TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Tuesday==>It is the coldest day so far this Fall in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. There was light snow, no accumulation, early in the morning. At 8:30am it was 35º, with wind chill it was down to 27º. Burrrrrrrr!

Well, what did I expect when living in the Northeast, right?

OK, let’s get right to the important stuff ...

Last night’s concert, THE EAGLES @ Madison Square Garden, was TOTALLY AWESOME, as The Eagles -  Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, joined by Bernie Leadon, were in tip-top form.

(I am actually listening to an Eagles Best Hits Compilation CD as I am writing this posting)

I got to Madison Square Garden a bit early for the 8:00pm show so I could walk around and check out the recent renovations. I am happy to report that the place really looks great.

I was in my excellent seat, Section 118, row 8, seat 14, around 7:30pm. I sent tons of messages. The arena was full. Looking around me I determined that I wasn’t the oldest person at the concert, as is the usual case.

The concert started at 8:15pm. There was no opening act, Thank God.

Glenn Frey and Don Henley were alone on stage strumming acoustic guitars to deliver “Saturday Night.” Then, Bernie Leadon joined them for “Train Leaves Here This Morning.” Then, Timothy B. Schmit came on for the classic “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” The group became complete when Joe Walsh joined for “Witchy Woman.” It was a very emotional and impressive way to begin the evening.

The first half of the program was devoted to telling the band’s history, which included scenes from the recently released documentary “The History of The Eagles.”

They took a break at 9:20pm but were back on stage at 9:40pm.

The second half was a continuation of Eagles classics.

Folks, as I said, the groups was in fine form and the trademark long, high notes and harmonies were absolutely beautiful.

The audience was really into the show. Thankfully, I was spared from the standing and dancing overweight women who are usually in front of me at rock concerts.

The regular show was over at 10:50pm. They, of course, had encores, which included “Hotel California,” “Take It Easy,” and “Rocky Mountain Way.”

I left MSG at 11:10pm with a huge smile on my face because it was an unforgettable event and Billi Pod was soooooooo thankful for the early Christmas present from self.

Moving on ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is a Broadway show ...

8:00==>IL DIVO - A Musical Affair - “The international classical-pop quartet, joined by Broadway star Heather Headley, makes its Broadway debut in a limited run concert featuring songs from great musicals, including: West Side Story; Les Miserables; Cats; The Phantom of the Opera; Evita; The Lion King; and, others. (Broadway - complimentary ticket)

Il Divo is: American tenor David Miller; Swiss tenor Urs Buhler; a French pop singer named Sebastien Izambard; and, Spanish baritone Carlos Marin.

The show is playing at the cavernous Marquis Theatre at Broadway and 46th Street and runs through November 13th. It has received rather mixed reviews/buzz.

I am happy to report that today’s New York Times had a rave review for THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER: Wake The F**k Up, with special kudos to Bobby Moreno as the rooster Odysseus Rex.
