EXIT 27==>A+

Friday==>TGIF to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers and also my Worker Bee friends out there in the morass known as cyberspace.

It is a bright but cold day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World, 44º @ 8:30am, but the wind chill brings it down to 36º ... burrrrrrrrrrrr!!

We need to get this posting started because I have plans for lunch at noon, details below ... so ...

Let’s start with Billi Pod’s report card on the awesome Off Broadway show he saw last night ...

EXIT 27 - “Inspired by true accounts, Exit 27 tackles the controversial subject of the so-called Lost Boys of Utah, young men who have been excommunicated from the Fundamental Church of Latter-Day Saints and left to fend for themselves for committing ‘sins’ like kissing a girl, listening to music or watching television. Desperate for salvation, these boys struggle to remain on a righteous path, hoping to earn forgiveness and rejoin the society that has cast them out.”

Billi Pod’s report card==>A+

Yes, this is one of the best performed shows I have seen in a long long time. The cast is simply incredible and the physicality is breathtaking.

The setting is a desert outside Hurricane, Utah.

The story line is totally involving but also very troubling because it is based on actual interviews conducted by the playwright, Aleks Merilo, regarding the largest Fundamental Church of Latter-Day Saints polygamous community in the U.S.

When the show was over my mind was overwhelmed with the questions==>“Why haven’t we seen a report of this on TV news?" "Why haven’t we read a feature story on these boys?” "This is obviously child-abuse, so why hasn't the local, state, or federal government intervened?"

My only quibble with the show is that all four of the male characters look older than the teenagers they are playing, but that doesn’t detract from the overall quality of the production.

Billi Pod says==>get thee to this show ASAP!!

It is playing at The Medicine Show Theatre on West 52nd Street, has a running time of 2:00, with intermission,  and runs through November 27th.

Moving on ...

At 12:30pm your favorite blogger is having lunch @ Meske, his favorite Ethiopian restaurant, on West 47th Street in his ‘hood, with Dian Crystal aka My Lady, Marty Kosarik aka Whatever, and, hopefully, Cathy Altholz.

It has been awhile since the gang, or better yet, Dian’s posse, has been together for a meal, so I am really looking forward to this.

Marty has a really interesting upcoming trip and I will share the details in tomorrow's posting, with his permission, of course.

Moving on some more ...

Tonight’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

YEAR OF THE ROOSTER: Wake The F**k Up - “A combination of lowbrow, foul-mouthed humor and hyper-articulate references to Greek myths and legends that centers on the regularly ridiculed Gil, a dork, who now, with his new rooster, a fearsome killing machine named Odysseus Rex, is experiencing things he's never had in his life -- hope, victory, and revenge.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

My Lady highly recommends this show. It is playing at The Medicine Show Theatre on West 52nd Street, has a running time of 2:00, with intermission, and runs through November 24th.

Time to post this and then get ready for lunch because one doesn’t dare be late to an event involving My Lady and her posse here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>2.47 miles (or, 5,404 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>441.94 miles (average 3.40 miles per day)

GO GATORS!!
