VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE==>A

Saturday==>Thank God the snow is gone and the accumulations have melted away. Oh ... it is bright and cold this morning==>43º @ 10:30am.

Billi Pod has yet another doubleheader scheduled for today so we need to get down to business right away, starting with his report cards on yesterday’s doubleheader ... first ...

The staged reading of SCARY MUSICAL - “They sing, they dance, they die.”==>totally enjoyable for a work in progress.

I laughed a lot and it was certainly worth braving the elements to get to The York Theatre.

I was seated next to the extended family of Richard Hochberg, who wrote the book and co-wrote the music and lyrics. They included me in their conversations and that was nice. It added to an enjoyable experience. I hope the show will continue in the developmental process.

When the show was over I again braved the elements and came back to the warm and cozy confines of PHC.

Then for the evening was an incredible Broadway show, in previews ...

8:00==>VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, about sibling rivalry with characters and themes from Chekhov==>A

Very funny with great acting, especially from Kristine Nielsen in the role of Sonia and David Hyde Pierce as Vanya. The rest of the cast is stellar too.

Each of the characters had his/her defining moment on stage in the form of an extended monologue and at the conclusion were each rewarded with roaring applause from the sold-out house.

This is theater at its best and is a must see for all of you theater-nuts in The Tri-State area. It has a limited run though June 30th.

I have to admit to one downside==>my discounted TDF seat sucked!! It was in the very rear of the upper balcony, in the next to last row. Very cramped seats. Barf!!

Despite this ... I left the theater with a big smile on my face.

Billi Pod says==>See It!

Moving on ...

Today is another entertainment doubleheader for your favorite blogger ...

3:00==>LOUD SPEAKER - “In 1928 a campaign for Governor of NY comes crashing down when the candidate drunkenly tells the American people to ‘Go to Hell’ in a live radio broadcast ... or does it.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show is playing at the Robert Moss Theatre downtown on Lafayette Street and has a running time of 2:30, with intermission.

When the show is over, weather permitting, I will leisurely walk down Broadway to the City Hall area, the location of my second show. Along the way I will find a place for a diet coke and some fresh fruit and then it will be time for my second entertainment event ...

7:30==>AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS: An Evening with Jule Styne - “The Fred Barton Orchestra, with stars from the Broadway stage, will perform songs from Funny Girl, Gypsy, Bells Are Ringing, Peter Pan, High Button Shoes and others.” (concert - discounted TDF ticket)

This is playing at The Schimmel Center For The Arts @ Pace University.

So there you have it my loyal and faithful readers and followers. I will now post this and get ready for another wonderful day/night in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!
