BECOMING DR. RUTH==>A

Saturday==>It is a bright and cold morning here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. The temperature at 8:00am was 39º. The projected high is 57º.

Your favorite blogger is happy to report that late yesterday afternoon something very interesting showed up on one of his ticket services and he immediately booked it.

What was it I know you are all anxiously asking your inner selves? Well, inner selves, it was ...

8:00==>BECOMING DR. RUTH - “Everyone knows Dr. Ruth Westheimer from her career as a pioneering radio and television sex therapist. Few, however, know the incredible journey that preceded it. From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport, to joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper, to her struggles to succeed as a single mother coming to America.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

Billi Pod’s report card==>A.

This one-person show stars Debra Jo Rupp, who was simply amazing. She totally had the audience from the very first moments of the show until the very emotional ending. The house was full and the audience was really into the show. She received an standing ovation at curtain call.

The story line is extremely educational and emotionally involving. The set is great and the projections during the show are amazing.

It is playing at The Westside Theater on West 43rd Street, has a running time of 1:40, without intermission, and runs through January 12th.

Billi Pod says==>get thee to this show ASAP!!

Today’s scheduled entertainment event is ...

2:00==>THAT HOPEY CHANGEY THING -”In Rhinebeck, NY, the Apple family reflects on the state of their family and discuss memory, manners and politics as polls close on mid-term election night 2010 and a groundswell of conservative sentiment flips Congress on its head.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show is playing downtown at The Public Theater and has a running time of 1:45, without intermission. It is part of 4 plays, in repertory, involving the liberal Apple family. I have seen 2 of them and this will be the 3rd. The 4th opens later in the month.

At the moment I have nothing scheduled for the evening and my plans are, at present, to spend the evening in the cozy confines of PHC watching college football and then game 3 of the World Series @ 8:00pm from St. Louis.

There is another alternative buzzing in my head and that is to catch the Daniel Radcliffe movie KILL YOUR DARLINGS at its 4:45pm show time @ The Landmark Sunshine Cinema on East Houston Street, an easy walking distance from The Public Theater.

So ... stay tuned.

In closing==>Two years ago today I lost one of my dearest and closest friends, GIL GOSHORN. Our friendship began back in the late 1950s at The University of Florida and continued through the years until he left us, way-too-soon.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his wonderful wife, LINDA, and to his other family members.

He is sorely missed and will never be forgotten.

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>1.37 miles (or, 3,014 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/13==>398.30 miles (average 3.40 miles per day)

GO GATORS!!
