The Horne Posse Is In The Big Apple!!

Friday==>Summer is officially here and not a moment too soon as far as your favorite blogger is concerned. It is a beautiful day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World. The skies are blue with a few clouds, it is breezy and the temperature @ noon is a pleasant 75ยบ. Nice!!

What is also very nice ...

Tonight I am meeting up with John and Amanda Horne of Anna Maria, FL, and their posse, who are in town to see the Off Broadway show ...

8:00==>OCCUPATION - “In 2017, facing economic catastrophe, the US Government sells Florida to China for $5 trillion. But there is a radical, violent insurgency in the Everglades attempting to save Florida.” (Off Broadway - full price ticket)

A family-member, Jennifer Peery Logue, is in the cast. Jenn has been in The Big Apple for about 13 years, pursuing her acting career. Her grandmother, Florence Senn Curtis, and I were in the same class at Summerlin Institute in Bartow, FL, eons ago.

The show has received some very good reviews and I have been wanting to see it. It has been running since June 6th and its final performance is the matinee this Sunday.

It is playing at the Abingdon Theatre Complex on West 36th Street and has a running time of 1:45, without intermission.

So ... Jenn ... break a leg. Hopefully we can chat after the show.

Nice!!

In yesterday’s posting I mentioned that today and Saturday were going to be special days ... well ... now you know about today ... how about tomorrow ...

Tomorrow, late morning, I will meet up with Ashley Zandy, who now lives in Palo Alto, CA, and works for Facebook, and John Scott Reed aka Fabson, who now officially works for Facebook, and we will subway up to Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built, for the 1:05pm YANKEES/RAYS game.

When I learned that Ashley was going to be in town and that she and Fabson were going to the game I asked if I could join them and they said yes. I went online and got a ticket in basically the same area where my season ticket package seat is.

Really looking forward to this opportunity for face time and catching up.

When the game is over I will come back to PHC, shower and change clothes and then head up to Lincoln Center for ...

8:00pm==>NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA @ Avery Fisher Hall. The program will include: Emanuel Ax performing Haydn’s Piano Concerto No. 11; and, excerpts from Wagner’s “The Ring Cycle.” (subscription series)

This is the final concert for the current season and it couldn’t be better. I love Emanuel Ax and the orchestra music from “The Ring Cycle.”

So ... I hope you loyal and faithful readers and followers will agree that Friday and Saturday look pretty AWESOME!!

What wasn’t AWESOME was last night’s YANKEES/RAYS game out at Yankee Stadium, The House That Greed And Ego Built, as Andy Pettitte pitched yet another lousy game, our bats remained dormant and we lost 8-3. We were never in the game.

The frustration of the fans is beginning to surface. The Rays scored 1 run in the top of the 2nd inning, followed by 2 more in the top of the 3rd, and the feeling of gloom and doom was palatable. Not joking or being overly dramatic ... it was palatable. Before this season there was always the feeling that The Bronx Bombers were capable of coming back, regardless of the score. Now the feeling seems to be that The Wankies can’t do it, regardless of who the opposing pitcher is and/or how close the game is.

Now, folks, don’t get me wrong ... even the most avid fan doesn’t expect a win in every game. Hell, the team that goes on to win The World Series is probably going to lose 40-45% of its games - that’s baseball.

What we do expect, in return for the big bucks we spend (my game ticket is $90, for f**ksakes) is a competitive team and, unfortunately, the reality is==>the current 2013 Yankee team just isn’t competitive and they aren’t fun to watch.

With so many critical players still of the DL, all with uncertain return dates, it is very doubtful that this season can be saved and, IMHO, our downward spiral toward the bottom of the AL East will continue.

Remember, back in March Billi Pod predicted that they would finish in 4th-place in the AL East.

Thank God I decided not to renew my 41-game season ticket package, opting instead for a 12-game package.

Tonight @ 7:05pm is game 2 of the 4-game series and it will be David Phelps (4-4) on the mound for The Yankees vs. Roberto Hernandez (4-7) for The Rays.

So ... on this rather negative note, will post this and then do some walking and wandering.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.29 miles (or, 9,378 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,676.35 miles

GO YANKEES!!
