EST’S ONE ACT MARATHON==>A

Sunday==>Good morning to all of my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace.

I hope your weekend is going well. Your favorite blogger is happy to report this his is ... so ... why don’t we get started with ...

Billi Pod’s report cards on yesterday’s entertainment doubleheader ... first ...

THE SILVER CORD, about the smothering relationship between a mother and her two grown sons==>B+

The use of the word “smothering” doesn’t do justice to the depth of the obsession the mother has with her two now adult sons and her determination to continue to control every moment and aspect of their lives.

Her dislike for each of the female love interests is palatable.

Even though the piece is dated and almost creepy at times it is still enjoyable. It is well acted, too.

It is has a running time of about 2:30, with one intermission, and is playing at The Theatre at St. Clement’s and runs through July 14th.

Then for the evening was another very enjoyable Off Broadway event ...

EST’S 34th MARATHON OF ONE-ACT PLAYS - Series C==>A

5 excellent works, funny and each well-performed.

The best was the final one called HATE THE LOSER INSIDE, about a college football coach who has just won the national championship and is now having trouble filming a commercial for kitchen equipment. Gut-busting funny.

Just before the show I ran into my theater-buddy Kim and we sat together during the show. He also enjoyed it a lot.

The series is playing at the Ensemble Theatre on West 52nd Street, has a running time of 2 hours, with intermission, and runs through June 29th.

Billi Pod says==>see this if you possibly can, you won’t be disappointed.

Moving on ...

Today’s entertainment event will be a classical music concert at Lincoln Center ...

2:00==>THE WORLD CIVIC ORCHESTRA @ Alice Tully Hall - “Ring of 1000 Souls & Sound.” The program will feature:
Dvorak - Symphony No. 9, “From The New World;”
Brahms - Piano Concerto No. 1; and,
Williams - The Lark Ascending
(concert - complimentary ticket)

When the concert is over I will then meet up with a couple of my AA buddies (you know who you are).

We will catch an early bite and then watch the TONY AWARDS @ 8:00pm on CBS.

The program will be emceed by Neil Patrick Harris.

OK ... I know that you are all anxiously awaiting Billi Pod’s predictions ... well ... you will have to wait just a bit longer because they will be in a separate posting ... so hang tight ...

Yesterday afternoon 40-year old Andy Pettitte recorded his 250th win as The Yankees beat The Mariner’s 3-1

On the same day Pettitte’s son Josh was drafted by The Yankees. What a day for the Pettitte family.

This afternoon @ 4:10pm EST is the final game of the 4-game series with David Phelps (4-3) on the mound for The Bronx Bombers vs. The Mariner’s ace King Felix Hernandez (7-4).

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>5.21 miles (or, 11,392 steps)

Total mileage since 7/1/12==>1,612.64 miles

GO YANKEES!!
