I’m Sorry - Updates - Upcoming Schedule - Kathi & John

Monday==>Yes, my loyal and faithful readers and followers out there in the morass known as cyberspace, your favorite Sunshine State blogger admits to being remiss in his responsibilities to make timely postings on this blog.

Does he have a legitimate excuse? No, not really ... just a major dose of sloth and procrastination ... so ... please accept Billi Pod’s apologies so we can get today’s posting underway ... I'M SORRY!!

Moving on now ... to update you ...

On Saturday by son Bill III aka The Bill and I drove up to Gainesville for the Florida/East Carolina game. As you know, the weather forecasts were pretty dismal. We were guests of my dear friend, Linda Goshorn.

Bill picked me up at 1:00pm, in his truck, and away we went. The drive up went OK although we ran into some really serious rain about 1/2 way there. And, OMFG, Bill started getting alerts on his dashboard that there were problems with the engine. WTF??

Thankfully, we arrived at Linda’s without any problems.

We then headed to the game to tailgate and visit with friends. Unfortunately, my friend, Stumpy Harris, a mega-Bull Gator, was not in his usual parking spot. I don’t know what the problem was.

When the gates opened at 5:30pm we went up to the seats, located in the Touchdown Terrance in the North end zone. These are excellent seats that are protected by an overhang. We had time for a nice meal (included in the ticket) and then it was time for the game to begin.

Well ... you know the results of the game. We won, 31-24, in a lackluster performance from all aspects that basically majorly pissed off Coach McElwain, as it should have.

In the name of fair and unbiased reporting, I have to admit that we left the stadium with the Gators leading 31-17, with about 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Linda wanted to avoid the traffic back to her place so we could begin our trip back home.

We couldn’t believe what was happening as we listened on the radio. Wow ... not a very pleasant way to end what had been an outstanding time ... but ... as “they” say==>A WIN IS A WIN.

On the trip down we kept our fingers crossed that the engine would keep running, and, thankfully, it did, even though the engine warning light was on for the entire time.

It was 1:00am when Bill dropped me off at the apartment.

Despite the way the Gators played, it had been an excellent experience ... so ...

Thank you Linda for being our host, and ...

Thank you Bill for being our driver.

Sunday was spent in front of my 42” flat screen TV watching baseball and pro-football.

Luckily, my Yankees won the final game of their 4-game series against Toronto, 5-0, to avoid an embarrassing sweep. Our ace, Masahiro Tanaka pitched an excellent game, aided by clutch hitting from Dustin Ackley (who?).

While we are technically still in the race for the AL East, it is Billi Pod’s opinion that if we make the playoffs it will be via the wildcard.

Moving on ...

Today, being Monday, it will be Billi Pod’s usual errands and chores day. Then, for the evening it will be ... tada ... some baseball ...

7:10==>Yankees vs. Tampa Bay, at that disgrace known as Tropicana Field, for the first game of a 3-game series.

On the mound for the Yankees (78-64) will be our former ace CC Sabathia (4-9) vs. Erasmo Ramirez (10-5) for the Rays (69-73).

Moving on ...

The upcoming week is going to be interesting. This is what is already scheduled ...

On Wednesday night I am seeing the highly acclaimed musical Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater.

Thursday I have a 2:30pm appointment with the surgeon, Sebastian DeLaFuente, to schedule the procedure to remove one of the enlarged lymph nodes in my pelvis, for further testing. Of course, I will have to do another mountain of paperwork.

Then, that evening will be the second GOP Debate. No way would I miss this.

On Saturday evening the Gators are in Kentucky to play the Wildcats.

On Sunday, September 20th, my daughter Kathi Bendeck, and her husband, Dr. John, from Columbia, SC, will arrive for a whirlwind 3-day visit. More details on this as they develop.

So ... my loyal and faithful readers and followers ... you are kinda up-to-date and ... again ... please forgive Billi Pod for all of his transgressions.
