RENT Was Excellent & Other Stuff

Billi Pod had a very enjoyable evening last night at the revival of Jonathan Larson’s award winning 1996 musical RENT, playing at the Off Broadway theater complex World Stages. His report card is==>B+.

I would guess that the house was about 90% full with mostly people in their late 20s early 30s. I was by far the oldest person there, at least as far as I could determine.

The ensemble cast is excellent, especially MJ Rodriquez as Angel. I thought that it was a little slow in getting started but, thankfully, it soon gained momentum to reach the rock-opera pitch that Billi Pod remembered. The sound system was a bit weird, too, because sometimes the onstage orchestra over-powered the performers.

I think that I saw the original version 3 times. This version is certainly worth seeing.

Today’s entertainment event is a Broadway show in previews ...

8:00==>ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER, starring Harry Connick, Jr. - “A psychiatrist tries to help a patient quit smoking but ends up discovering the patient’s real and perhaps imagined past life.” (Broadway - discounted TDF ticket)

The advance buzz on this show has been highly mixed. I never saw the movie or the orginal Broadway production so I thought I would give it a shot. We will see.

Now for some random things and stuff ...

First of all==>a Happy Birthday shout-out to Ashley Goebel of Orlando, FL. My grandson Chris Falletta aka Topher is her boyfriend (and more).

.

Secondly==>there is an incredibly interesting column is today’s New York Post about Timmy Tebow. The title is: “The weird ‘controversy’ of Tim Tebow.”

The link to the article is --

and it is definitely worth taking the time to read.

Thirdly==>GATORS/OHIO STATE in The TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. WTF?? Folks, this will probably be the most-hyped match ever of two 6-6 teams in a bowl game. Both teams come limping in at the end of a rocky transition year.

It's being hyped as “Urban Meyer's old team against Urban Meyer's new team,” but, folks, it is really==>mediocre plays mundane. The Gators finished with their worst season since going winless in 1979. Yes ... since 1 9 7 9!!!

Billi Pod had hoped that coach Muskrat would have had the courage to say ... “thanks, but no thanks ... our dismal season is over ... enough is enough already.” But ... no ... the almighty dollar prevailed. Oh well ...

And ... TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl? Man, that title is so f**king pathetic that it doesn’t warrant any further comment.

Got things and stuff to do ... so ...

GO YANKEES AND GO GATORS!!
