Puppet Titus Andronicus - Lancelot - Baseball

Thursday==>Yes, my loyal and faithful readers and followers, it is another great day here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World.

At 10:30am it is a balmy 66ยบ, sunny, with a nice breeze coming off the Hudson River.  It is just the weather-day that has a major walk and wander session calling out to your favorite blogger ... so ... let’s get started with ...

Billi Pod’s report card on last night’s Off Broadway show ...

PUPPET TITUS ANDRONICUS, this comedic take on Shakespeare's ‘worst’ play, features silly-string gore, a bunch of angry goths, a villainous anthropomorphic boar and all of the deaths, dismemberment, cannibalism and crimes against humanity that make ‘Titus’ the ‘poetic atrocity’ that it is==>B

I found a lot to like about this show that features an extremely talented ensemble cast of puppeteers who recite Shakespeare’s prose while bringing their puppets to life in various forms.

And, yes, it is obscene, violent, bloody and also belly-laugh producing. There is a lot of improv. By the end of the show almost everyone is dead.

It being a work of The Bard, the story line is virtually indecipherable despite there being a synopsis in the program. And, that was the downside of the evening for me.

The house was about half-full and was very much into the show.

I definitely left the theater with a smile on my face.

Is it worth seeing?

Billi Pod says==>yes, if you want a totally different evening.

It is playing at The Theatre Row Complex on my West 42nd Street block, has a running time of 1:30, with one 10-minute intermission, and runs through August 16th.

Moving on to today ...

Billi Pod’s entertainment event is an Off Broadway show ...

7:00==>LANCELOT - “Ryan is a quiet young man who has a good job, a steady girlfriend, and a nice, normal life in Oklahoma – that is, until Ginger arrives. With Ginger come memories of a wanton and wildly creative boy Ryan thought he had buried ten years ago. But can anyone kill the part of themselves that is most madly alive? Ryan will soon find out.” (Off Broadway - complimentary ticket)

This show just opened, is playing at The Gym at Judson Memorial Church in the West Village, has a running time of 1:30, without intermission, and runs through August 29th.

Now ... on the sports scene ...

Last night, down in Baltimore, The Wankies (61-58) lost 5-3 to The Orioles (69-50), wasting an excellent return outing from Michael Pineda, who went 5 innings, giving up only 2 hits and one run.

Thankfully, The Wankies have today off before beginning a 3-game series on Friday against The Rays in that disgrace known as Tropicana Field.

Moving on ...

The opening round of the Little League World Series begins today at 1:00pm, with games scheduled for the entire afternoon. Your favorite blogger plans to watch ... so ...

Need to post this, do a walk and wander session, and then settle in for some afternoon baseball ...

Yesterday’s Pedometer mileage==>4.17 miles (or, 9,120 steps)

Total mileage for 2014==>892.92 miles (average 3.97 miles per day)

GO YANKEES!!
