Monday==>Have just gotten back from a routine appointment with my eye doctor, Dina Weintraub M.D., whose office is located in Midtown East. Everything went as expected, including the usual field-of-vision test that I absolutely hate.
On the way back I was able to do a couple of the usual errands/chores and that is why this posting is a bit late.
So ... let’s get started with yesterday ...
Well ... yesterday I made a last minute decision to skip my scheduled afternoon show and to stay in the warm and cozy confines of PHC to watch playoff football. Both games were exciting, especially the Broncos/Chargers game, won by Denver 24-17.
The Denver win sets up the AFC Championship Dame against Tom Brady and the Patriots at 3:00pm on Sunday. It should be a dandy.
When the game was over I watched “60 Minutes” as Anthony Bosch, the founder of the Biogenesis Clinic, basically stuck it to A-Rod, big time. I think what he said was very believable and it apparently is supported by hundreds, if not thousands, of documents linking A-Rod to performance enhancing drugs.
Remember, Bosch testified under oath at the Arbitration Hearing and A-Rod did not.
Anyway ... let’s move on to tonight’s entertainment event for your favorite blogger here in The Big Apple, The Greatest City In The World ...
7:30==>BUYER AND CELLAR - “Alex, a struggling actor in L.A., has taken a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. One day, the Lady Herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? This outrageous comedy is about the price of fame, the cost of things, and the oddest of odd jobs.” (Off Broadway - discounted TDF ticket).
This highly acclaimed show is playing at The Barrow Street Theatre in The West Village and has a running time of 1:30, without intermission. It has been extended several times and now runs through April 13th.
I saw it when it was still in early previews back on March 21, 2013 and loved it, giving it a grade of A. When it showed up with a discounted ticket I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see it again.
I want to gave you loyal and faithful readers and followers an update on the health condition of my dear friend Ginger Flowers of Atlanta, GA, with her permission, of course.
About 5 weeks ago she had a serious fall at home. When she was taken to the ER she was diagnosed with a “very BAD case of pneumonia.” She was admitted to Piedmont Hospital where she stayed for a week. She was then released to A. G. Rhodes Rehab Center, where she stayed for 3 weeks. She went through a very rigorous physical therapy program designed to rebuild her strength and mobility.
She was deemed sufficiently recovered to permit her to return home and to live alone, which, as those of you who know Ginger understand, was Number One on her priority list. She returned home about 4 days ago and has in place a schedule of professional outside assistance.
Unfortunately, her COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) remains the same and this will be something that will be with her for the rest of her life.
I talked with her several times while she was in the hospital and in rehab and twice since she has gotten back home. She actually sounds very good and her attitude is extremely positive.
All of this is a major relief because, frankly, I had pretty much decided that she would never be able to return home, much less live alone.
So==>Thank You Higher Power, whom Ginger and I choose to call God.
She now has access to the Internet so if anyone wants to contact her directly, her email address is ...
